Hi all,
I live in Islington and am a keen triathlete. Ive noticed that there seems to be a distinct lack of triathlon stores in or around central/city areas. Ive been to Sigma in kingston and they are a great store just a good 1-1.5hrs away from me. Some stores have an ok section dedicated to tri (kings cross cycle surgery) but no full on stores to think of.
Ive also had a look at this thread: http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/ultra-/-adventure-racing/tri-shops-in-central-london/127897.html
Has the situation changed or am I correct in thinking that there isnt a store in central? Do others, like me wish that there was a store more available in the centre of town?
Cheers

hi there,
I live in holloway road, there is a bike/ triathlon store in hornsey road just off seven sisters which is really near and also sweat shop is right next to holloway road station
We have bike stores, we have running shops and we have shops that do the swimming stuff.....in fact we have millions of these in London......do you just want it under one roof or am i missing the point?
Bike Run in Finchley are a tri store
Bespoke Cycling - farringdon road massive amount of tri stuff by normal stds
Would have thought both would be a good bet given your locality, what are specifically after? I tend to find that even "tri" stores are lacking in the flesh and generally online is the way to go....
Which one do you go to in order to buy a tri suit?
also if you want to buy a wetsuit these days there is a huge amount of choice and even within models you now get version with different bouyancy characteristics, where do you go to try one on in London apart from the obvious out of towners...
Worldwide the wetsuit question has been raised a gazillion times on every imaginable forum - answers very similar 1) find a store that lives eats and breathes the sport specifically if no tri store available then go to a store /specialist for the discipline 2) try before u buy or ensure you know the returns policy (in my experience wetsuit sizing is pretty accurate according to manufacturers sizing charts 3) same as above but actually refers to properly trying I.e. swimming in it
Of the above questions therefore - I would probably go to bespoke who stock 2xU and cycle surgery who stock blue seventy for guideline sizing then I'd either find a lake who sells and supplies suits for testing (there are some west London way) or take a chance and bug online anyway
Hire is another option, with an option to buy at the end
Basically it's lots cheaper online if only you can establish your sizing but many don't advocate this - personally it was fine for me
Tri suits - buy online always cheaper and easy to return if size is wrong
The only place to buy one....the pirate shop.....
Hold on buying anything till the TCR show next year??
Next year will buy a better quality wettie ( so I'll have second hand entry level orca going for a good price )
Oooh when is that? Sorry to hijack the thread but I will defo wait until then and hopefully some friendly Pirate can guide me to make the right purchases.
Oh around march - perfect! I don't life too far from Sandown Park either!
Until then, bike shops.and run shops are great, then travel somewhere for a wet suite or tri bike
Mail order for everything else....
Oh and there is a good tri shop up in north london somewhere....
Thats only because they don't stock BaconLube to squeeze you in and out of one
(u may be safe for a while yet though )
End of last season I got a Speedo Tri Elite for less than a ton. Way better than I need but what they hell
eBay is always a good place for tri accessories, these tri-belts are decent, just ordered a few for diff race day attire
