frequently have to hit F5 to refresh (and therefore load) pages - ads load but that is all- perhaps they get paid by the number of times a page with there ad gets down-loaded?
Also have to the same on PPrune forum.
Earlier today I couldn't post replys because this box was unavaialble.
Also just noticed that the "Post Reply" is at the top of the page on a thread
I've just been to add AdBlock to Chrome and you get a warning first about it being able to access your data and browsing activity. Is this of any concern? I do realise I've probably got some software, hidden or otherwise, doing this already but just wanted to check.
I've gone by the number of downloads that it must be pretty reputable. Here's what they say about AdBlock, though whether it is enough to reassure you is up to you:
"AdBlock has the ability to access this data, but it doesn't actually access it. AdBlock needs this permission in order to run on every page, so that it can block ads for you; that's all. Nothing sneaky is going on.
It comes down to trust: you should not install extensions that ask for more permission than you are comfortable with, unless you trust the author(s). AdBlock is the most popular extension for Chrome, partially because we care so much about our users -- so we hope you'll trust us "
Mobile devices haven't caught up? that's technical... I've not got ad blocker on ie7 to 10 which i've tested it on and it works fine with all of them without ad blocker. Opera, firefox, and safari.
I don't bother wth ad blocker on individual browsers, as the proxy server i setup strips all that out anyway but even bypassing it or using various other net connections it's the same on every ios device. So it's not ad blocker that fixes it.
Just saying that all your waffle was just that waffle.... ad blocker has nothing to do with the solution. Considering how much you seem to appreciate things being correct. I thought you would appreciate knowing that.

sadly RW isn't the only site with this issue - it's one of my biggest bugbears with many websites as it just hangs everything on the desktop
Adblock? I don't get adverts and my pages load up ok
I'm using Chrome. RW hates Chrome.
DF - I use adblock but that doesn't work with all sites bizarrely - it's fine with blocking RW ads though
disagree - works fine with Chrome
I've had problems in the past which only occured in Chrome, such as not being able to quote people's posts.
Which ad blocker extension do you use with Chrome?
Adblock Plus
Chrome used to be crap for RW but it's much better now and the quote function works.
Definitely a verschlimmbesserung. Good work RW.

This site was becoming unusable. I've added the Adblock Plus extension to my Chrome Browser and it works like a charm! RW has never been so fast!
Thanks for mentioning, DF3 and FB.
I'm using Chrome and used their own adblock from the store. Works ok for me.
I hadn't even noticed how slow this web site and others had become having gotten used to it. Now it's blisteringly fast!
Firefox and AdBlock work for me.

Thanks Tenjiso, I hadn't seen that. Sounds fair enough.
David, I've just done it and it certainly makes things very much quicker! Don't worry, nobody's more careful than me with downloads .
I too have been driven back to Firefox and Adblock
It has improved my language somewhat
Right and what has that got to do with safari on an iphone which is what lots of people have complained about... Nothing
Thanks David
