Last year someone suggested that I follow Mel Nicholls during the Paraymplics, I thought it was a great idea supporting an 'unknown' athlete. Mel got through to the finals of the T34 wheelchair 100m and 200m. Amazing effort.
I continue to follow Mel, on FB (Mel Nicholls) and on Twitter (@Dolly2racer) , her work ethic is outstanding and when she's not training, she supporting others. She a credit to sport, always bright and positive (and good looking).
Yesterday at the IPC Grand Prix in Italy, Mel set a new World Record for the 1500m.
Trev - I find the best method for running up hills is short steps, but high cadence. I also lean into the hill, which seems to help.
ATM - I'll see you at Dunlop on Sunday. I'll be down with the lovely young lady I've recently started seeing. I believe she was the first female finisher there last year!
Chris Hadfield is the outgoing Commander of the International Space Station. I know his parents, having been on a few cars tours with them - his father is a Canadian aviation pioneer too, a Captain on Air Canada and an ace aerobatic pilot.
Here is one of his last video messages from space - just brilliant:
Before I say anything sensible to Trevor about running hills, can I just say....
"Eggy's got a girlfired, Eggy's got a girlfriend!!" And good for you big man
Uhm, my answer would be along Eggy's response anyway Trev. Short steps, high cadence, pump with your arms, control your breathing. Don't worry about speed, control your breathing. If it's getting too hard, shorten your steps even more but keep the high foot speed.
I understand what Dannirr says about 'attacking the hill' but I think that only works for short hills. On a long hill, you're going to fade badly with lactic acid overload. So your strategy has to be one of control.
Thanks for all the advice, I think my problem is I attack the hill too much which is ok if there aren't too many hills but on a hilly run like yesterday it takes too much out of me. Will look to shorten my steps as I was being left behind when I had to walk and others were running.
Amazing timing for this photo - just at the moment the foam-backed leatherette covered, wooden seat platform gave way...as gravity introduced The Jimbob to the hard cold steel of the drumming stool upright support.
Reckon that would have needed stitches fella' Ouchie!
Hell happy there is some good news out there! Car is just a hassle cause of the disability factor..........and later when BF finally picks up the courage to go tell the wicked witch(aka his ex!!)
Oooooh never thought about mummy meeting girlfriend!!!

Just realised the sh!t weather actually made me sit and study this afternoon!
Cheers all, I expected nothing less!
We went for a ride this weekend, stopped halfway into it for coffee and cake. That should keep DLR busy for a while.
We need pics Eggy. Of yer new mrs and the cake. But not the riding. Not yet, anyway....
