I bought the ironfit book by fink thinking that bossholgs is don fink.. wtf?
lol. BossHolgs taught Fink everything he knows.
Holgs book is brilliant, Chrissies biography is really good as well, some inspiring stories in that near the end. I love Fink as well.
Although i'm not taking the plan as set in stone, i have based the structure of my training around the competitve plan which is helping progress quicker than when i was training before. i think
As most know my biggest shortfall is my swimming so once this half IM is out of the way I will be concentrating on that up till December, before i get back on Fink for the 30 week commencement.
Mind you, i've got the 500 mile Great Barrow Challenge cycles ride in Septemeber as well Anyone else fancy that one? 4 nights camping near Bury St Edmunds & 4days x 125 miles cycling in Norfolk & Suffolk
Agree, this is a very pro lube thread Frodo. I like sensual sex lube. Whereas NR & FishTank are exploring the baconlube option, they even have sponsorship
Thank you, Meldy Going to take it away on holiday to Jersey with me in two weeks to build up a bit of confidence playing in the sea, then brave the local OW sessions.
I had hoped to do Outlaw this year, but my husband got tickets for the Stone Roses gig (which is the same weekend) as a gift from his friends, back in October. I couldn't face doing the long-distance without him being there to support, so am doing the bike leg of a relay team on Sunday instead. As it happens, it's turned out for the best anyway as my swimming has just not come on as I would have hoped (from no swimming skill at all this time last year, except a patchy, granny breaststroke, to be fair) so I have an entry into the Vitruvian in September and a summer to get my OW and FC up to a mile... Then, IM next year. Which one, I don't know!
It will all depend on dates for me - I work in an educational establishment, so need to time it with the holidays, as I can't take leave to cover a Monday off the day after in term time.
Not talking like I know nowt or anything, but if you can follow a plan (not that I ever have been able to ) and know where those really heavy weeks are going to fall, then there is always a bit of forward planning that might help ease the stress. (And with the best will in the world, you never know when life is going to blindside you and make training a very low priority.) If I may say, your dedication to the cause this year and last with your 12 event plan has been ace and bodes very well for following a more complex schedule...but you have to feel (within reason) confident/comfortable with your choices
SD - you'll enjoy great barrow. I did the 4 marathons in 4 days last year. I'm not sure about this year yet. All this time I keep wasting swimming and cycling, I'm not sure if I'm fit enough to get round a marathon any more
Goodness, every day work get's busier, every day the asylum gets more lunatics... welcome Honk and Frodo...
AND
Cocoa well done you managed a whole day and a half before succumbing to OUR way of thinking, so that's actually an agreement to an IM in 2013 then!
I promise i'm not slipping just busy, but I will be going back to the last list posted and putting all your names on the list (as well as any others i've missed!)

Yep check out my new name.... oh feck wait a minute!
i'm glad you asked Nurse and I (tiger get yer name updated...) have an agreement with a lube company in the states to provide us with Lube for our wetsuits AND they're considering working on some ideas we providing for sports nutrition, which of course we would also receive...

I hadn't lubed in case it needed to be returned - I shall be well coated in Bodyglide next time.
It did remind me a litle of this, though...

Just YANKing your chain. Takes an awful lot to offend me!
Seriously, as a wetsuit newbie - is there a preferred lube? Or will Bogyglide do? And which bits do you lube?!
Bodyglide is fine
I do my neck usually
Some people do wrists and ankles/legs to get it off quicker/easier ... some people use baby oil
Thank you, Meldy

You'll be fine, its great fun !
FRODO!!!! Lovely to see you in here!
CP!
Have you definitely decided on a half for next year?
I like a bargain, so the cheapest slippery, non petroleum based lube does me

Feel free to keep cursing me though, most people do.

I like the sound of IronAspie

Sounds like a plan
I'll move into a different age category next season, too!
4 marathons in 4 days. Good work.
Why were you thinking not doing an IM next year?
