- as part of a relay team, I am doing the swim, do I put my dry stuff in the bike to swim bag so I can get out of my wetsuit and put some clothes on.
- not sure what to wear for the rest of the day - I am guessing as a team we want to cross the line together - this is what I have seen relay teams do before, me and buttercup will hang around near the finish line as MrsD get to the end of the run and all cross the line together - so I would want to be in kit for that bit for the finish photo - but do I just wear my kit all day then?
maybe I am overthinking all this!
what have other people done
oh, and those of you that are also doing the swim part of the relay, what are you going to do while everyone is off biking?
I don't think relay teams have transition bags and are not allowed in the transistion tents unless they are doing more than one leg......
so you could leave your clothes etc in the lockers in the changing rooms and after the swim and changeover go back and get showered and changed..then you have the rest of the day to drink and relax before putting on a pirate top to go sown the finishing shoot
We've previously just left dry kit in the van and gone to pick it up after the swim. The showers at HPP are pretty good so you can shower and change there. Then either off to the restaurant for brekkie or the pirate feed station for cheering and bottle throwing
thanks everyone, will be driving over on the day rather than camping, so will leave stuff in the car, so better off wearing tri gear under my wetsuit rather than just a swimming costume and having to walk back to the car in my cossie the lockers in the changing room sound like a good idea though
think I will message supercaz and see what her plans are for after the swim and hang out with her. Am guessing also MrsD will be hanging around rather than going to the feedstation before her run leg
2 years ago one of the top relay teams cocked up...........The cyclist was in his tent merrily eating breakfast and didn't rush.......
The swimmer came out of the water first relay swimmer out.( they were some top athletes in the relay)......she then stood at the side of transition looking for her cyclist to hand over the chip.........and she waited...and waited...the next relay swimmer came out of the water and their cyclist merrily went out in first place........and the poor girl waited for minutes.........
I wouldn't want to have been in that car drive home later that evening.........and it was all recorded on TV...

I hope you have a bike Meldy and are not just planning on nicking mine..........mine will be the dirty one next to the space where yours should be......
Don't worry I'm sure the broom stick will still be in working order in a couple of week's.
Math's last year for the relay there was a few conplaint's about not being able to get into transition if you where a relay team. I've been told earlier this year by a mate involved that there might be a small area for relay bag's if any use. I'm not expecting it to happen through as there are only so many places for a big field. All the cool kids on the bike will be there nice and early anyway so they can heckle err sorry I mean support the swimmer's.

some questions about practicalities

Mathschick, you can shower and change at campsite and you can keep a change of clothes there and then you could come up to the feed station?

I'll carry your bags bird! I have no idea what we'll be doing... but no change there
You're camping literally across the road so you need a rough idea of when your cyclist will come and and can get changed in time for that.
Kaz, your probably good till six pm with the speed pudge cycles.......
I beg your pardon?!!
You never promised me a rose garden.
HOOTERS
PIRATES!!
Pirate hooters?
Teams have had bags every year so far for transition, there normally kept separate. (Unless it changes this year )

remember seeing that on tv, didn't they interview the swimmer waiting for her cyclist?
You do know you need a bike for this one, right?
