Good Luck everyone, looking forward to following your progress through the day without having to get sunburnt! (actually that is a lie as I would much rather be there cheering you on and attempting to loose my voice again... hey ho!)
Just been training with a guy going over this weekend. He is complaining of a sore shoulder and a knee injust but still hopes to do about 9 hours in Roth...... By rights he should be a complete nob but unfortunately he is a lovely guy so you can't even begrudge him!
Can anybody tell me what the bike course is like - mainly, are there many hills? Also any tips on packing the bike. I've borrowed a hard case but have never taken a bike on a plane and would love it to arrive in one piece!
Rundown - you have to do two laps, there are several hills on the lap but nothing really major unless you're not strong on hills. The main thing to watch out for is at the bottom of the lap when you come into Greding, you turn left towards the town and then almost immediately left again, get down in low gear because the road goes up sharply. After a couple of hundred metres you'll hit a drinks station, then the road continues to climb but gently for about 10km. You'll love the Solarer Berg, it's only 800m but is lined by cheering fans about 6 deep on either side, just about room to bike through - you'll feel like you're on the Tour de France!
As much as I'd love Rosey to break 9:30 - its a massive jump finding over 15 minutes at that level and with his not so great build up its unlikely. But I know he'll give it everything, smack it Rosey.

Rundown - don't worry it's only 92miles on the bike after the lonely swim.
I mean I have to ask. This is a wind up isn't it? Noone is actually doing this race are they?
As you were.

now Melli - sub 10 easy ;~)
Thanks Ultra - like the sound of that. I've seen pictures of the Solarer Berg and it looks impressive.
92 miles? that is a wind up? isn't it 112?
"and rosey is riding my disc ... guaranteed to be good for 15 minites"
