Whilst out running at 6.30am last Sunday morning I suddenley realised that no-one had any idea where I was or even that I was out at all. I don't normally go out that early and it hit home just how dark, quiet and traffic-free the world is at that time (although it was great to see the sun come up!!) so I've looked at getting some sort of ID to wear apart from my mobile phone that I usually carry with me.
I've seen these (hope the link works) and wondered if we had a UK version? If not, can anyone whos got one of them recommend them?
I have tried a Cram Tag but I like the idea of the whole database malarky for contact telephone numbers/health info and photo etc.
Thank you!!!

The RoadID guys have a deal on at the moment
Christmas Special (10% OFF all orders placed by 12/14/09). According to many of our customers, the 12/14 deadline did not give nearly enough time. As a master procrastinator, I understood the problem…and extended the offer through Friday, December 18th! As a bonus, you will be entered to win a Free Orbea Bike or a Human Touch Massage Chair just for purchasing a Road ID before Christmas (details below).
Place your order by 5:00 PM (ET) on Friday, December 18th and use the following coupon code to get your discount: pcHoliday293
See you had the email as well Farnie
I use AlertID - there was an initial minor problem and their MD contacted me, apologised and promptly gave me 3 years free subscription. They have been absolutely wonderful.
The tags are firm but very light and highly visible and their database is quite extensive. I needed this option as I had a stroke 2 years ago AND I have a number of allergies.

I've got a Road ID wrist band that I ordered from the US site. I like their new 'Elite' range allowing you to log contact details online although the phone number (to access said details) is a US one (details can still be accessed online).
I've also just taken advantage of the 10% discount to get a tag for my running shoes since I normally run out in the country on my own rather than on roads.
I've had a 'SOS Talisman' around my neck for years, it's just had new paper-strips over the time, which are updated as needed, with new phone numbers/altered addresses.
Okay, maybe it's not as tough as a nylon band around the wrist (but bracelets are available too)

Military dog tags, £2.50 on eBay.
Certainly brief and to the point !
Sorry to be cynical but it's the amount of money that all these bits and pieces cost
Now I'm delving deeper into road and trail running it's astonishing how many 'things' and 'accessories' there are, and while I do love the ID bracelets I thought I'd just throw it in to the mix that there are cheaper options
The bracelets are probably more sensible since they are easily accessible and don't jangle around the neck or pockets. I'll probably end up with one of them (sigh...)
Happy running all! x
The RoadiD I bought at Christmas came in 6 working days and cost me $15....
Much nicer than a "plastic dog tag" from ebay
OK ya got me I was having a moan. The RoadID isn't expensive on its own its just the accumulative cost of running and how people make money out of our passion
wait until you start triathlon - then you'll see the bank account disappear!
If you follow the story of Mike & Ed Wimmer it all comes from the best intentions
