.......and consider regensburg instead of the outlaw in the mean time you can always do bit of this in a relay team If you thought Outlaw was good, then the German events will blow you away!
Have a look on the pirate ship of fools website, (so you understand the general level of crapness of the pirates, what they do and how they do it...) then start getting around the forums, buy some kit, do some of the warm up events as well if possible...
If you fancy being associated with this bunch of enthusiastic nutters, welcome aboard.

Well I am an Outlaw - woohooooo and definitely down for Outlaw 2011.
Must remember to bring more cash on the bike as the Pirates feed station will probably increase their prices for High 5 again Great work boys n girls, you really brought the smile to my face.
Hope those NIMBYs i.e. 2 people who slammed the Outlaw in the local rag wind their necks in, they may even enjoy it this time.
Ok - no idea what I'm letting myself in for - but I'm in.

Thanks for the advice so far. I'm determined to better that this year (see above).
I have to say that the support on the aid stations was brilliant, loved the signs, they were really funny and give me a boost.
I hear that Iain Hamilton (Director at One Step Beyond) himself announced on Monday at the awards ceremony that the 2011 Outlaw would be on 24th July? If so then it won't clash with IMUK (31st July allegedly) in case you get the urge to do an IM two weekends in a row.
Looks like I'll be dusting of my copy of Fink again ..., although I plan to modify my training regime next year.

Debbo, I am expecting a PB from you if we have any chance of beating Melli's team! I think I need to get a a whole lot faster at swimming between now and then! It will be great IMR practice!
I am thinking about this or IMUK(previous comments noted though).
A few questions though. Is the bike route hillier on thism or IMUK and can you seriously stand up in the lake. I have only swam in pool and I like a rest every 25 metres
Cornish you can stand in places but I wouldn't because you might stand on a sharp rock. You won't need to through will be a wet suit job for this and you can quite happily foat in your wet suit and rest if needs be. But if you want to do a race this long you need to get some open water pratice in and after a bit you won't need to rest mate. Anything is possible in 12 months and we can help.
Not done IMUK but a few comments from those that have lend me to believe this is flatter. It's not pancake flat but nothing scary and got some nice down hill bit's. Only real conplaints from this year about the bike is there were a few numplies in caravan's on one secture of the route but nothing to annoying.
Only IM I've done so far but off the tri's done by far the best organised and if you wanted to do one I'd go for this one. Unless something seriously bad happens this race will be just as special in 2011 as 2010.
I think the main point about the swim was not so much the distance but the huge clumps of weeds. I was lead to believe that these had been cleared beforehand, clearly not (or not enough anyway). I passed this feedback onto OSB. I noticed small yellow buoys dotted aound on the water: did these mark the weedy areas? I don't think they marked the swim course route, or if they did perhaps I missed it in the melay.
The other bit of feedback was to increase the marquee size, as it was a bit mad in there during T1.
if you swam bear the shore, it was shallower there, but there was more weed. I swam up the middle, and there was less weed, but you could not stand up.
ps its a 3.8k swim, and if you need to rest every 25m i suggest you start doing some swimming...
