There's a massive amount of information in the years of previous threads on here. To get around the fact the search function is so crap, go to Google and type your keywords and then site:runnersworld.co.uk you'll get everything you want, and more.
BTW, this has been bugging me for days...........meface - is your forum name especially designed for putting on your VLM singlet/T-shirt ?...so the crowd all shout "come on..........". I've toyed with getting that printed a few times, it would amuse me for most of the 26.2.
I make bucket loads of decisions at work - too many for too many people.
So in my own time I sometimes prefer to let other people have a go. It has sometimes ended up with doing things I wouldn't normally do - which is great.
I try never to make my mind up for lunch. I'll nearly always take the special. If in a sandwich shop I let the sandwich maker choose. Today I got Roast Beef, horseradish, tomato, blackpepper and something else I can't remember. It was really nice: I wouldn't have picked it myself. My view is they are the professional sandwich maker and make hundreds a week, what the feck do I know about sandwiches.
Go with flow and take whats on offer - widen your horizons - accept and embrace what happens.
I'd also advise novice pirates to become well versed with opening wiggle packages - they seem to be needed with alarming regularity and check the bottom of the box for the occasional free Haribo they sometimes send. There - thats my top tip !
Note to self - start checking the bottom of the box, Doh
And I agree with Smithy re 2005 Swim, bike and the whole darn thing cut offs were chased.
i think the fact that EVERYBODY'S bike went fast than his, even Jellybabe's with stabilisers still fitted, resolved the arguments about green paint and downtube shifters once and for all....
he still has it as well although he also has a slightly more modern bike which he races now.....shame...
Green bike might have to go to bike heaven if he can't find someone to fix it., he's working on getting a new bike for next year, not that there is anything wrong with the one he has.

I like the gordo approach of a basic week you can do 40 weeks out of 50, ie consistency, with the aim of just getting fitter......
then come base period time increase the long sessions up to target....
then come build, add more muscular endurance, or just keep doing the long stuff if endurance is still the limiter
It keeps things simple...... That appeals to me as its all I can handle.
meso-cycles sounds like a japenese bike soup

Don't blame me - blame them.
I considered letting them all choose a mentor for me as well - but had second thoughts
Do you have any opinions of your own?!? Or do you have to let other people make all your decisions?

Even though I'm new around here, it just me that thinks 'the pirate way' expression sounds just wrong at times unless it's something like this:
(First quote the archive came up with from 2007)*waits by letterbox for Haribo to pour through*
Meface, I love the line "...what the feck do I know about sandwiches". Brilliant!

Surely riders of green bikes don't count*?
* especially with downtube shifter.
