I'm going to have to miss the 1st May which is a shame as it's so close for me as well, but another birthday as have arranged to take my Godson go karting for his 18th birthday (then maybe a visit to the pub for him to buy me his first legal pint!)
Actually I'd like to use the opportunity to hit Kanga for real, rather than just virtually. I thought it was just a threat and a joke this 'I'm selling up and moving half way across the world'.
I think I am meant to be at a stag weekend in Newquay, pretending to be an Australian. Any tips from the hallowed Antipodean one?
Drink VB, wear thongs aka flip flops, use a stubby holder, end every sentence with maaaaaayyyte, wear an Akubra and you're sorted. Oh and yell 'Aussie Aussie Aussie' every now and then. Extra points if you end every sentence with an inflection so you sound like you are asking a question.
Strewth, I dunno, after 14 years I need some pointers I do the 'mate' thing, own thongs and a stubby holder, and have been known to do the 'Aussie Aussie Aussie' thing ocassionally. Think I may be able to pass as a local again after a few years. Need to work who's who in the AFL/NFL again, will have a new NSW premier shortly, have a sheila for Prime Minister, and I'm about the only Australian asset/national treasure than hasn't (yet) been sold to the Chinese.
There will be one or probably more beering sessions, trust me, once we've actually exchanged contracts and it gets proper real. Still haggling at the mo...
OK, I admit at the start, I'm to lazy to go back through all the posts, can some one give me a summery of the plan? All I know so far is it's the 1st of may......
According to SportsTrack - Trogs and I set of at 09:37 last year. The whole trip was 5 hrs 14 minutes excluding lunch. About 2hrs 25 minutes down (which may have a slight pause in due to user error not restarting watch) and 2hrs 50 minutes on the return leg post lunch.
Weather and tracks couldn't have been better (in early October and not a drop of mud in sight)
Given more riders, more faffing and differing speeds, I doubt we would be as quick - but 8am would give us 4 hours to get there before lunch.
Erm. IM training? I thought it was a little ride with a pub lunch to wave off the beer swilling Aussie... My arse hasn't sat on a bike for more than 90 mins for about 6 months. Admittedly this means it is a lot larger and cushion like than it used to be, but I don't think that translates to making things comfier.
I fear I may need to turn around and wimp out long before the official turnaround point.
Buy it's plus one for a 9am start. And meface, if you're sticking with Ditchy I'm afraid it'll be three's a crowd cos we'll be attached at the hip.

Oh, I dunno Ka Ng Ah. You sound Chinese to me.
I do think we might need to have a send Ka Ng Ah off party of some sorts. Probably involve booze and trying to nick teh new bling bike?

Ditchy and I made a crack team in the kitchen on Saturday if that helps.
And I think, you misunderstood my earlier post, young man.
Young?
Did we accidentally bake your eyes?
bump.
1st May soon!
Whaddya mean 'soon'
It's more than a week away
Just thought it would remind people what they said they would do!
Plus allows final clearance from TPO to be managed for those of us that need it.
Plus 2 allows others to think about doing it, sign up, and join the fun.
Meface
Did we get any further than 1st May?
If not, can I suggest Cranleigh as start point cos there's a free carpark, some loos and a co-op for snacks?
There was a plan?
What time are we starting?
helloooooooooooooooooooooooooo?
I'll just stick with you Ditchy. I'm presuming you'll know what to do and where to go at some stage.

But I am OK with 8am as I like my lunch early.
I vote 9 am!
8 am is just a bit toooooo keen.... and will mean leaving home far too near 7 for my liking. But then, I am a lazy cow.
I'm with Ditchy
Is the voting AV or majority
