Excuse my geography but where roughly is Limoges? None of the links seem to have a map. Anyone fancy the Etape? Never done it before, but could be tempted. 238km? Flippin heck, what's that about 140 miles?
Oh OK Richard - - it's just South West of being slap bang in the centre.
I'd take the mountains any day - you get to see the race, and the views are great without you being forced to do 150 miles on race day ! Just don't nick my plane seat to the Alps.
Will Lance win again? Read he will start with preparation a bit later back in Texas, Ullrich starts already in November and is very serious not to end up second again. Would be interesting to see what Tyler Hamilton can do.
I should think something else had an effect on his performance... bad joke there, slapped wrists...
Lance's wife was his Chemotherepist while he was undergoing treatment, apparently they'd been having difficulties for some time so judging by this year's effort, although down on previous years, he was still pretty much the best there. I guess Ulrich could potentially be the #1 rival, but I hope Beloki stays on his bike next year!
And RM's a Palace fan then. Oh well, I suppose someone has to be.
Didn't Lance get back with weefy, unless they've separated again. Thought this year's was the best since Fignon got pipped in that Paris time trial - reckon next years'll be a cracker with Ullrich, Hamilton & Beloki opening things up (Indurain was a fantastic cyclist, but his Tours were about as exciting as watching a metronome). Anyone know which team David Millar'll be with yet?
Sorry I havent read all the thread - so this info might already be known - but if you want a summary of the race and the timetable it can be found here

come on Lance! - make history
Time Trial on Alpe d'huez - sadists! (but great for us)
Really shaking it up this year - or do you think that with the lapse of ONCE there is no point?
stage finish in La Mongie?? wonder if they climb Tourmalet and then a sprint down into Mongie or miss Tourmalet out??

TTT limits the losing team to just 2min 30secs this year. Never seen that before !
Limoges is about 130 miles East of La Rochelle. Don't really fancy L'Etape - always sounds just too crowded. Like FLM on wheels.
L'Etape is a great day out - and even better when it's in the alpes and you get hoards of TdF supporters cheering you on.
Your post was more helpful SP, although I'm not talking to you after my team got beaten by the carthorses on Tuesday night.
Interesting comment about the Etape though Cougie, may think about just going to the mountains instead.

I reckon a three or four day trip in July 2004 to see the last few days and in particular the 2 TT is a wonderful idea.
yes I'd like to do the etape - apparently it is getting quite hard to get in due to more and more people wanting to do it though.
David Millar stayed with Cofidis despite being unhappy I suppose he likes being the team leader, which he possible wouldnt be elsewhere
