Looking at various trackers/news reports most UK flights seem to be leaving but some subject to delays if landing in France or flying over French airspace. The Bristol - Nice flight this morning has suffered a delay (but it did go!) Lots of delays to flights to Spain as well. Cancellations seem to be internal flights (as someone has already mentioned.)
Whilst writing, if anybody is interested (who is flying EasyJet) they have changed their baggage policy in our favour. Our bike bag can now weigh up to 32kg, so if you have booked hold luggage as well you get a mahoosive 52kg in total.
Im hopeful, like pingu, that the fact we're an early flght should be good for us. Easyjet seems to be suffering more issues as the day goes on, and earlier delays cause more delays and cancellations across the board, but the early bristol flight should be a goer. Let's hope the next two days of delays doesnt roll on any further
Here's a question to the Garmin 800/810 users (plus maybe other GPS users)
Forgot to download the open street map file for that part of France, and now have 1.5 days to wait to be able to download it due to the queue. Does anybody have the file for that area that they could perhaps dropbox or something so that I have road maps for my Garmin?
Got a few days for us yet and anything can/will happen, it is what it is, if we were to be cancelled I'd like to know the Thursday night to give us a little bit of leeway for the drive otherwise we'll park on the Prom and I'll be taking a full bike box to racking
We're in a very packed car driving on the wrong side of the road, heading south.
I'm pleased to hear that the flight situation is sounding hopeful. We're keeping everything crossed for you guys.
Very excited about having 2 lovely weeks in the sun here and really looking forward to catching up with you all.
Garr has never trained so hard for an Ironman, I'm truly proud! He's done 'a few' 10k runs and has swum FIVE times since February, so he's sure to smash it. Last time he swam any distance in OW was IMFr 2008 and in actual fact he no longer owns a wetsuit. Fret not, he's going to 'pick up' a new one at the expo... What could possibly go wrong?!
People who report on the affects of the stresses of Ironman training on the body and mind have never met my husband. Cool as a cucumber.
I think your race day logistics should follow a pattern such as watch swim, get breakfast, sit on beach, get lunch, drink wine, watch cyclists come in, drink wine, watch runners, drink wine, look for Garr and probably me too floating off towards Monaco sometime late evening
Hope, sncf.fr would seem to suggest the first train out of St Raphael on Sunday is at 6:18, arriving at Nice Ville at 7:27 (assuming of course I have googled the correct St Raphael, the one next door to Frejus).
Dermot- I'm on the same flight as you.
Pingu, I'll start worrying about the weather when I've stopped worrying about picking my hired bike box up.
After the longest car journey ever we have arrived in Klaggers Just popping in to wish you all the best of everything. After the build up you've had, race itself should be a breeze.

Just look what is going on on the Promenade des Anglais... click here
Watch it all become very real
RBM - yep next door neighbours, last time there was a handy escalator up the side of the building on the station side of the hotel
Of the early flights out of Brum to France one cancelled so far, two still going, one to CDG and one to Lyon
Loving the link ISB

ISB great webcam link thank you very much..
Very excited now! looks bloody hot!
Me too, RBM. At one point there was some suggestion of a 45 min delay. To be honest, that would be ok too!
A bit worried about Symes' report, his seems the flight to be most concerned about at the moment.
I'm hoping because our flights are early ones we might be luckier with delays than the later ones ...
BA seem to operating close to schedule today from Gatwick. Hope springs eternal etc...
I look forward to seeing you all in nice.
When do you fly Dermot?
fingers crossed. 7am flight tomorrow for me so am getting anxious now

I may actually be looking forward to it.
Should I start training yet?

GB just download France as a full country. The queuing time is for custom maps - sure your Garmin has the storage to handle France as a whole??

Pingu
Thursday 13:25 from Gatwick, I hope. They were operating today. I assume you are flying from Bristol/Cardiff.
Perfect, TE... thanks. Was trying to be clever and just do that region to save space but have got tons of space on the garmin.

Pirate to the core!
FIVE swims, FIVE? overtrained if you ask me
With all this travel stress we're forgetting to panic about the weather! Looks like it's getting hotter than previously predicted ....
Hope, are you guys staying at the Ibis once you're in Nice?
Dermot, yes Bristol for me.
Pingu we are renting a house in St. Raphael so will be getting the train in to Nice when the pirates land and travelling back and forth.
If I was racing I'd be concerned about race day logistics but Garr just says that 'It'll be fine' and I'm on holiday so ????
It is an hour each way on the train... nice views but slow ride
I think your race day logistics should follow a pattern such as watch swim, get breakfast, sit on beach, get lunch, drink wine, watch cyclists come in, drink wine, watch runners, drink wine, look for Garr and probably me too floating off towards Monaco sometime late evening
Swiss Bobby we will probably drive to a closer train station and park and ride. I don't think we can park at the ibis unless we have a room

Hope - the car park adjacent to the Ibis is not owned by the Ibis. You can park there should you wish
