Seren to eat a fry on race day what time do you actually get up and start cooking it....i'd be paranoid that i'd be 20 miles into the bike leg worrying if i had turned the grill off
last week......i had a 6 am start for the race and got up at just before 5 breakfast cooking at 5 whilst i was getting dressed and had time to eat the sausage and bacon/mushroom sandwiches before racking my bike and playing with rubber.......
used to worry that i would throw up in the water..........but found that it lines my stomach to cope with all the lake water i drink whilst swimming......
when i used to try porridge.i didn't fancy it at 5am and only managed a few mouthfulls....sausage and bacon sarnies i fancy any time of day so get a good solid breakfast in to set me up for the day.........
if i left the cooker on then its only the tent that would be destroyed
love race number tats........In july.even if its not as hot as last year.who thinks jaffa cakes in July are a good idea......
they would be better off getting showers for the run and big sponges and water butts.....
Flat footed....wisemans and saundersfoot weren't too bad this year.in fact in sunshine and no pressure for time it was a beautiful lovely course......won't mind doing another recce as its doable in a day.with a 90 min drive each way
I've already got white hands with a 5p sized tan on the back of my hand from my cycling mits without my race number tattoo giving me a worser comedy tan. I'm going on holiday the weekend after too.
Got some good news they have resurfaced the final bit of the bike course. It's still not the niced bit of road but a lot better than it was. Mathschick on the shorter tri thread put it bet so nicking her post.
cake - that is good news about the resurfacing. They seem to be doing weird resurfacing jobs all over Nottinghamshire where they don't tarmac it but seem to skim a layer of stones over the top of the existing surface. On some of the roads round here it has made them worse, but on the ones with loads of potholes at least they are more even now
Wouldn't like to use that road after some heavy rain but it's going to do the job ok. With the pubs after extensive research this place to me looks like the best option. lady bay If needed I can take one for the team and continue the research.
Assuming I can't convince OSB to give me a late entry (stuff all chance, but don't ask don't get, hey), I'm happy to do a relay spot for a modest appearance fee
Well I managed a 3.8k open water swim (around double the longest I've ever done in open water) and a 186k bike this weekend (around 50k more than the longest I've ever done) this weekend.

I'm not sure I could stomach a cooked breakie Sarnie at 5 am, you must have a stomach of steel. Rice pudding is my breakfast poison????
rice pudding would make me heave on the first mouthfull
I want a bacon buttie now you Seren are a bad influence!
No, Ladyboy is racing Nice his year. He might even finish.
Didn't think Gladys was racing IM this year?
did the full Ironman wales bike course today.that must be good training for all the hills at Outlaw
Can't say i'm going to miss Wisemans and Saundersfoot this year at all Seren.
Am I being a total numpty? Is there information about the on-course nutrition somewhere because I can't find it.
It must be somewhere as there was an excerpt earlier in this thread.
okay - yes I am an idiot - read info more slowly next time mmm jaffa cakes
Seems we get race number tats this year to add to the comedy sun tan.

6 weeks to go
camping - sort out tomorrow.....
training - start in 2 weeks time.....
book pre swim on the saturday......
OC.....I believe the camping is just turn up on the day............unless you want elecrtric hookup...and you are too late ..
I have swam again today....1.2k same as yesterday........a few more days like this and I will get to distance
Why would you want to get into that duck shit filled lake anymore then you need to?...or is that some cramming training the day before?
Me and bookie are popping over this weekend for the cycle nottingham thing. If we come across any decent places for fodder I'm shout up.
Decent places = those that serve sweet potato with everything?

Always thinking of others Cake - what I like to see. Your link doesn't work, but go and have a few pints and let us know what the Guinness is like!
Didn't think I didn't see a guinness pump there was driving so on the coke the other day.
I have just agreed to do the marathon leg for a relay team
Did 13 miles on sunday....not done anything longer since VLM.......
Assuming I can't convince OSB to give me a late entry (stuff all chance, but don't ask don't get, hey), I'm happy to do a relay spot for a modest appearance fee
Well, I've had my first Outlaw disaster dream - forgot my bike and my run shoes.
Which is fine, since I'm only swimming this year
since the half i have had dreams off and on about the swim start - most involve being punched in the face
Well I managed a 3.8k open water swim (around double the longest I've ever done in open water) and a 186k bike this weekend (around 50k more than the longest I've ever done) this weekend.
Feeling a bit more confident about Outlaw now!
I managed a 14 mile run last night. It is my longest run because of injuries, which is a bit worrying. Hopefully it is enough!
