Hi all,
Gently working my way up the distances and now making my wife nervous about looking at the longer stuff.
But the question is - do you frown on folks running in the Pirate kit if they haven't yet completed a long course?
Main target next year is Olympic distance (incuding the Castle Series at Chantilly) and then 1/2 in 2015 with main eye on doing local iron distance here in North Norfolk the year after . . .(shhh don't tell me wife!!) and I really fancied running under the club colours.
I've looked at local clubs and they just don't flick my switch . . .
So, sorry if it's a dumbass question but if you want to know any more about me and what I'm upto then please shout.
I'll be hiding behind the couch now . . .
Cheers,
Andy

Hi One and welcome
Thanks for giving us the chance to resurrect the should they/ shouldn't they kit argument
There are a number of (strong) feelings on this personally if you are working towards an Ironman wear the kit that way we get to see you around and get to know you.
Move over I'm coming behind the sofa as well
Hello,
You should definitely race your warm-up-to-IM-distance (your secret is safe with us - for now!) races in Pirate kit. That's what most of us do.
What you definitely SHOULDN'T do is hide behind the coach between now and your race. Get involved, start chatting on some threads, make some friends, get a load of advice. The Pirates is more than just some recognisable kit - I know it can be daunting, but the best way to "become a Pirate" is to start posting as one.
As an aside - do you already own kit? If not, I doubt another order will be going in until the latter part of next year, so you might have to borrow some for any earlier events?
I was about to say the same as Flyers .... being involved is as much the part of being a pirate as wearing the kit, although if you dont have any kit you might have to steal some
and where on earth is chantilly
Wear it, you'll get thrown out of the race and banned from future ones if you run naked.
*nods* yeah.... He should know
Seren I think that's the one in France isn't it?
* Goes of to get cloth to clean tea of the screen
Wear it it's a statement of intent. Somethings I think we get to count up in what is a pirate anyway.
I was banned from wearing PSOF kit in a race yesterday, had to dress in a Satan (sic) suit
Ooh I'm doing a satan run, where can I get horns from??
cows??
cars??
What everyone else has said, wear the kit get involved
If youre in the vicinity of London there is a social next Monday, people always say we're a friendly and welcoming group.
Fixed that for you.
What everyone else has said, wear the kit get involved - just don't ever express an opinion different to mine or ever allow things to develop embrionically in a direction I'm not comfortable with
As it is.
It's "different from" and "embryonic". And a preposition is not a word to end a sentence with.
Ooooh
As a dyslexic can someone explain this one to me please?
it translates as "I did an English O level, and i'm pleased to have finally found a use for it"
What's an 'O level'?
*blank stare*
Behave yourself Madame Mouse !
It was a proper qualification taught in schools, before standards had to be dumbed down massively for the yoof of today so they didn't have to deal with stress, failure etc etc., the poor cherubs!
I've got lots of them!
(Probably, I can't actually remember!!)
I have some but I cant remember where I left them
Bit like your dentures
Brave..... very very brave.....
Brave or stoooopid ..... you decide
i'll pin 'im down, you fit the snaffle bit......
Blimey ... easy tiger
