they have decided to keep it going for another year.the oldest running long distance tri in the UK.....Ironman distance.........( well almost).........and all for a bargain price of £100 if you are quick....
Camping is available and its the 29th August...heard such great reports of this race and there is a half and a shorter distance as well for those not wanting to do another full this year

And yes my retirement for this year from triathlon has been broken...I havent cycled or swam since last summer.....and will be ultra training until my race in the end of of July.......
but I;'m sure I can recover and train for this in a month...
Oh I believe the run and bike is a little lumpy..........and the climb from the swim to T1 is rather steep up the side of the diving quarry......but the swim is in the cleanest, deepest lake around......
Have you swum in the quarry? It's lush. Among the best water I've ever swum in.
I have3 swam in there when it was 6 degrees...it was still beautiful
Accommodation/ parking is also available at mine if needed
Plus cheering and support crew will be out in force.
I havent actually seen my bike for over 6 months
I think this might be too tough to blag
Which reminds me.
Duda dragged me round a loop of the bike course last year, ignoring my 15 mile ride in/15 mile ride out. I shall be honest, it's scenic. I'd like to do it again as a practice for IM Wales.
Secret weapon: the 28 cog.
Would like to do it sometime... Blusters.....I have a 32 cog........might need some oiling to Get it to move though
BLUSTERS?
That's me alright!
So...does doing this count as "doing an iron distance"? as its short by a few miles on the bike and run.
I think yes as its a tough one.......So I will count it as one..
but if i was only going to do one then i wouldnt do this one as its a bit short.....
the cotswold half is around 50 miles and bala 52..but people still count them as halves
Suppose so, bit like saying you've done an Ironman when you've actually done the Outlaw, easier then explaining the difference to civilians
I'm in.
Will I recognise you from your avatar Cunk
How will I recognise you Phil... I will be in black and yellow and will be the one with the biggest gob....you will hear me before you see me..
Seren et al I am happy to ride the course for a recce.
For those that did it last year and missed out on Bitchnor Hill they have now fixed the road.
Blisters we don't have to climb the barrier any more an a 28 cog is a great secret weapon
I will see Trevor the organiser tomorrow/Sunday so I will check out with him to see which off the hills will be in or out.
I forgot to put Seren on my entry.... I will have to get hold of him to change that.feels strange in triathlons when someone calls me by my real name........I usually remmeber to put Seren first...
I've done the Little twice, and always promised to have a go at the Big, but not suitable this year.
Well I guess I just go and say hi to the gobby Welsh bird.
And yes my dulcet tones are there to set you on your way! Watch for the big fish moreso than the little fish!
might have a dabble at the Little, will have a nose at the diary
Mouse... I have entered....so will dig out there bike at some stage when the sun returns to south Wales
I entered on Friday but not on the entry list yet. The entry list is short at the moment. How many people usually enter/complete the big one?
I did the Little Woody in 2012 and it remains one of my favourite races. The swim is just fantastic and it is a real grass roots triathlon...love it
RBM was meant to do it that year but he pretended to be stuck in traffic
Cunk I think the entry list might still be sghowing for the little woody
last year 25 started and 22 finished.......all within 15 hrs
looks like 36 were entered to do it..
any pirates fancy doing it as a late summer wind down .. probably the august bank holiday weekend
step away from the keyboard, did promise no triathlon for me this year
