Yeah what HC says. If you fancy a chilled holiday in the sun, come to Lanza to support next year Will. It's cheap and we all had a great time this year. There will be a contingent just out supporting again, it would be good to have you along
Right well I've changed the race I'm aiming for. After volunteering and supporting at The Lakesman and being very impressed with it, I've entered it for next year
Already decided I'm going to try & get onto Roth next year - my work calendar is blocked & I have fencing ready to erect at the end of my row to stop anyone from coming to talk to me while I sit there & hit refresh as fast as the server will let me from 5mins before it's due to go live!!
Besides from the aforementioned actions & keeping toes crossed, anyone got any tips as to how to get one of those illusive spots?!? (I really want to go to the point I'm pondering going there this year to cheer / scope it all out & then try to get a spot in person the next morning)
I've got France or Italy to tick off my bucket list for 2017. Tempted to do a non-branded event like this http://www.triathlondeauville.com/en for my European adventure next year. 4000 people take part over the weekend, so must be good!? (The youtube video..... hill on the bike course looks a right bastard!)
May - Immortal Half June - Cotswold 113 July - Outlaw (again, but I like it a lot!) August or September - another iron distance. Either Vichy (if I like it this year) or, assuming it is on, IM Wales
And they'll be some half marathons, or if I can find one at a suitable time, a marathon.
August or September - another iron distance. Either Vichy (if I like it this year) or, assuming it is on, IM Wales
And it largely still is but amended to:
April - Boston (Lincs) or Brighton marathon....can't decide which, or maybe neither
May - Immortal Half
June - Cotswold 113
Early July - Battle of Bosworth half. Same day as Outlaw Holkham but considerably cheaper camping
Late July - Outlaw (again, but I like it a lot!)
September - if it's on Weymouth (full distance). Not inspired to go back to Vichy and however we look at it we can't make Tenby work logistically with Cheggers Jnr being at school on Friday, the race on Sunday and school on Monday.
March - Lanza Training cmap April - Mallorca 312 May - IM Lanza May - Tour of wessex July-Aug - Transcontinental Race - no5 Oct - IM Barcelona (Assuming I am not broken again)
Comments
I just dont know what to do next year
Aww Will, you've been through a tough time of late, don't put pressure on yourself.

If we're already looking at 2017, can we declare 2016 done ?
No going long next year although if the Pirate champs are at Bolton I will definitely be up for supporting
gonna look to do some off the wall stuff for a break then back to IM for 2018
Rumours going around that 2017 could be last ironman in Bolton.
Pirates were also at last Challenge Henley for champs before cleared out of town.
Must admit if I was going long next year I'd do The Lakesman again... Great race

Still an option to do the double if my old body will allow
Well we never had an urge to move to Bolton Cougie !

So I think I've got a vague plan for next year:
- middle of May, London Revolution
- end of May, half ironman (maybe Outlaw Nottingham)
- early June, Tour Cambrideshire (already signed up)
- 9 July, Challenge Roth in Germany (assuming I get a spot!)
- mid August, half ironman
- with any luck, end of August World road race champs in south of France
- 9-17 Sept Ride Across Britain
Thoughts?! Is it daft to do RAB the same year as an IM as I'll need a lot more bike focus, or will they go hand in hand??
if you get lots of long cycling in...and a number of short runs in .. then it should work
So just an outline of race plans for 2017.
Devizes to Westminster - Canoe Race (it has water in it!)
Comrades Marathon - (ok so not a tri but will wear a Pirate top and look like a lizard when I finish).
Copenhagen 70.3
Bolton IM
Dublin 70.3
Regret life choices and drink lots over winter! Is anyone else looking at Dublin or Copenhagen 70.3?
I know that my (Golden+10%) name has appeared against a list for Bolton, but somehow I am simply not excited.
Perhaps I should retire.
Again
I think next year for me is looking like:
May - Immortal Half
June - Cotswold 113
July - Outlaw (again, but I like it a lot!)
August or September - another iron distance. Either Vichy (if I like it this year) or, assuming it is on, IM Wales
And they'll be some half marathons, or if I can find one at a suitable time, a marathon.
But it may change!
Plans are firming up for next year for me. There are now a couple of stupid races in the mix...
Jan - Country To Capital ultra
Apr - Manchester Marathon
May - Grafman Middle Distance (maybe, not decided yet)
Jun - Lakesman
Sep - Brutal Full
Normally, I would say this is too early, but I have my 2017 A race locked in for October now.
.... and a good year this time to plan

I have comrades booked for next year......and I thiunk that will be all apart from the relay at outlaw
May - Immortal Half
June - Cotswold 113
July - Outlaw (again, but I like it a lot!)
August or September - another iron distance. Either Vichy (if I like it this year) or, assuming it is on, IM Wales
And it largely still is but amended to:
