Phew - 'last orders' has gone and so has 'time gentlemen please'
Now all I have to negotiate is the single malt, the cans of Guinness, the 12 excellent bottles of red including a damn fine Pinot Noir I've been saving for a special occasion - did you know it was David Bowie's birthday today and Elvis'?
I'm not a fan but that will do as an excuse
SAVE ME QUICK... I've got the corkscrew in my hand!!!
morning all - 8 days completed and getting easier all the time. hubby and I are back on the alcohol-free wheat beer (Erdinger Weizenbier), might sound horrid but actually it's an isotonic drink the brewery makes that's given out at many finish areas where we live. The brewery actually sponsors many triathlon competitions and triathletes, including ex-World champ Faris Al-Sultan who is Moslem! It's the only alcohol-free beer I've ever drunk that actually tastes good.
Well the wheels nearly came off last night, had an awful time getting to sleep ended up reading a few chapters of 'A Beautiful Mind' and sipping peppermint tea until 03.30.
I think I've had that alcohol-free wheat beer when I was in Augsburg Germany a few years ago - it is nice
1 large glass of Chianti in 8 days
Tonight will be tough - meeting of the pub quiz team to erm... discuss tactics... ahem
The multi wheeled wagon is trundling along quite nicely thanks. Decorating ST? That sounds like a long term investment on our wagon. C You're certainly setting yourself a few challenges- pub quiz? Oooh tough one. Only 26 days to go for me. Doesn't seem too long.Thats only 4 weekends.
Morning all, Did something last night that I wouldn't dreamed of doing a couple of weeks ago. Convinced myself that I'd earned a small brandy, poured it out smelt it and... Didn't actually fancy it! So I poured it back in the bottle and made a very nice Thorntons hot chocolate drink. Hope for me yet.
Going out for dinner tonight with someone who drinks for Queen and country. I can cope with that. I'll struggle more with the fact that where we are going makes the most amazing cosmopolitans.
peppermint tea will keep you awake - not as much as black tea, but it will. camomile (tastes like grass clippings) or valerian (tastes like manky mouldy grass clippings with a dead slug in, but much stronger than camomile) will help you sleep. holland & barrett do a few different sorts of herbal tea that makes you sleep, their 'sleepytime' is probably the least icky tasting.
