Saw Reverend and the Makers last night. Didn't really want to be there tbh as my back was carp but we'd already got the tickets etc so we went. They were brill, it would have been one of the best gigs I'd been at if I could have danced or bounced. But I had a good view. Best bit was undoubltedly after the gig when John Mcclure played a solo, acoustic encore out on the square outside!! Going to go see them again when I am more mobile.
Oboe is temperamental - it refuses to play G sharp and forget about trying to play very top E! The fact that there is a fast descending scale starting from that top E in the Poulenc is neither here nor there.
It needs overhauling but I was putting it off in case the audition date clashed with whenever i could trek to Hereford to take it to be sorted out. I can see me booking it in for as soon as poss after the 28th just perchance the audition panel can hear beyond the horrendous performance and give me a place on the Access course.
Can't fathom out what's troubling the G# - key seems to be fine, maybe the spring's gone.
I've committed myself to the Poulenc and nothing else would contrast sufficiently with the Corelli/Barberbrolly. If they ask why I picked it, I'll just tell them the truth - I love that piece.

I'm glad Korwich is properly represented
I can hear that passage in the Poulenc, Parddu. Yes the top E is a bit crucial. What's wrong with the G#? Sticky key?
Have you thought of another piece? I was thinking the slow mvt of the Pergolesi/ Barberbrolly is short and probably not hard to learn
Back from chapel.

I don't recall it being particularly small.
