I've just heard that an Astana team truck has been stopped and searched for three hours by customs officials at the Swiss - French border. Hmmm, I wonder what they were looking for
cougs, there's only a handful of people posting on tour threads anyway, getting the posts split over different threads is just needlessly irritating, imo

They didn't find anything.
Really! Wow!!! Out to get Lance would be a major coup for them.
I'm still puzzled about what was wrong with that sprint Cav got DQ'ed in. It was obvious Columbia was trying to box Hushovd in, but they didn't do anything funny.
I think the Belgian Commissaire got it wrong and couldnt go back on himself. If you look at the overhead film Cav seems fine to me - its not like he endangered anyone. Thor shouldnt have got himself into a position where he'd need to come through on the barriers - thats common sense.
Anyway - Thor wouldnt have got near Cavs wheel in a proper full on sprint. He cant touch him like that so he has to cry foul to win. Bit of a hollow victory for the green though ? Hope Cav kicks his ass on the Champs !
that DQ was very much like a DQ you get for drafting in tris - it's a judgement call and there is no appeal. from some angles it looked a fine DQ, from others it looked not - the referee had to make a decision and called it as he saw it
I think the penalty was harsh though and it didn't deserve that
out of interest - which border control stopped the Astana truck - French or Swiss??
I think if that was a DQ, there can't be many sprints where the order over the line is the same as the official results, I'm with cougie on this, even if it means the belgians take the blame
robbie mcewen reckoned cav new exactly what he was doing. but that the punishment was disproprtional to the crime. he reckoned cav and thor should have just had their positions reversed.
when robbie got relegated he practically finished sitting on o'grady's bike!
The view from above suggested that Cav simply held his line and the road was narrowed by the barrier but the ref has to make a judgement call. Having said that, I think the punishment was outrageous and the commissionaire's attitude when interviewed was dreadful. Yet again the cycling authorities show that they've got their heads stuck up their collective @rses.
From what I saw on telly there was a bump on the road and he was rather casually on the hoods when he hit it and lost the handlebars, the white line is a red herring I think. Which could explain a tumble too... Is he OK? I thought 'that's going to sting a little'...
Pretty interesting stage in the end, Schleck boys at least trying, lance fighting back ok...
OMG! The crash looked very bad at the time, I'm glad he isn't hurt worse. The Eurosport commentators said according to race radio another rider crashed somewhere on the descent too, didn't catch his name?
the info says Voight was doing 80kph when he crashed?? it didn't look like he was going that quick and I would have thought hitting the tarmac at that speed would have done a damn sight more damage than he had.
still - not a nice thing to happen and he should know better than to lessen the grip when downhilling behind a group when you can't see what's coming up!
Paul Sherwin was saying last week after an earlier crash that sometimes the high speed one don't cause as much damage as the low speed ones, Not sure of the physics but he came up with a few examples of his own career.
though Brad was even more laid back than usual. I see the paper this morning said he used a helicopter to get him and a bike over to Annecy on Monday's rest day so he could have another look at the TT course, We stayed at Annecy a couple of years back and rode round the lake, Should be a great TT
Maybe they only mention the worst injuries and don't bother mentioning the rather more mundane road rash that's probably taken most of the skin off his shoulder. These blokes are well'ard - already this tour 3 of them have got back on after crashes and finished the stage, one with a broken collar bone and two with broken wrists.
Which reminds me - football season starts again soon. How long would Ronaldo last on a bike?
CD - the difference with the pros racing injured is that is they are paid to do that job, unlike us amateurs. and pride plays a big part in them getting back on the bike........

Anyway - How many 'random' dope tests has Lance had now ? They seem pretty determined to find something dont they ?
Pity about Cav, and I've gone right off Hushovd these days. Whiny God of Thunder indeed.....

I think it was to do with the slight dip in the road, when the weight distribution/pressure changes and that's it. Off.

latest on jens - not as bad as it might have been:
