AB - as a 4-15 marathon runner (when I can be arsed) I would expect to run this in 2.15. Saturday however, I will try for a 2.30. That is what I am saying now, as soon as the hooter goes (or whatever starting device is used!) I will forget all about strategy and just run!!!!!! I am a man of great intentions, I read all the advice, listen to what the sages have to say.....................and then when a race starts I seem to forget all about it
Ruth 66 - the flints can be lethal but take extra care on the little slipways over the groynes because of the seaweed. There are also big puddles in the flints to watch out for. Trail shoes will be OK as long as they don't fill up with sand!!
ABC - not had anything really major apart from one lady who slipped on one of the slipways and banged her head. We are fortunate however that we have Raynet and Margate ambulance in attendance and they took her to QEQMH. She was fine afterwards.
Agree Doosan, I ran along the beach last night and the slipways in the Broadstairs area are very slippery, rain tonight will make them worse still. Looking forward to it though. Where abouts are you marshalling DB?
Good luck everyone I will see you all at the start and then again somewhere out on the course.
Last minute reminder to fellow TRRACies if youve volunteered to marshall and not yet been contacted by Pauline just turn up at Race Hq and we will find you a job
What a great race-wish I'd discovered it years ago !
I found the hardest sections were those on the dry sand-my feet were going in all directions and I shudder to think what my calves will feel like tomorrow !
As always with a TRAC race, the organisation and marshalling were outstanding-so thanks to everyone involved.
JFDI-nice to meet you before the race and this is a race I definitely want to do again next year.
Thank you very much TRRs! What a great race, I loved every minute of it, even the soft, deep sand and the endless steps. Organisation was flawless - but can we have the wind the other way round next time, please? Can't wait for next year!
And a big thanks to Lulu who kept me company from the halfway point to the finish!

Thank you very much for the information. Looking forward to it - see you all there.

Cliff Face, what time do you expect to get around. even if its a training run and you take it easy?
Any recommendations for shoes? Trail ones, I guess...I'm a bit worried about slippery rocks.
And I have to expect wet feet, don't I?
Looks like rain on Saturday. As for shoes I'm wearing my normal running trainers with trays attached to skim over the rock pools
JFDI - Do you see many serious injures on this event, apart from the usual?
A warning:
Where I am marshalling is VERY slippery - I am on one of the groynes...
Be careful with your footings!
As a Quicksand first-timer,the more I read about it the more I think I'm in for a unique racing experience.
Can't wait !
The forecast says that the present rain will have cleared by the morning.
Good luck everyone I will see you all at the start and then again somewhere out on the course.

A superb event, I really enjoyed it. Spotless organisation, great course, unique and such friendly marshalls. I'll be back next year.
I'm going to hurt in the morning.
