sorry to hear people are having to pull out. I did my first long run since London today. It came in at just under 14 miles and was very slow. I felt ok at that pace and could have gone further but certainly not faster - there was no speeding up for traffic lights and the like! Don't seem to have had any negative effects and it's nice to have it out of the way. Hopefully I can push on towards Chester from here.
Did a 20 miler yesterday in 3:04 (9:15 pace). I was in good condition at the end and managed to surge for the last half mile. Played football in the afternoon against my boys and managed to sprint the full length of the pitch to score a brilliant goal. My two sons 4 and 6 couldn't live with that raw pace.
Just got to think about tactics now to go for the sub 4.
Urgh, had a week off from running and I feel like a slob. I did, however, play some Aussie Rules twice but counteracted that with 3 birthday parties in 3 nights over the weekend. Out running tonight and can't wait to feel better about myself...
How's the training going? Done a couple of 4 milers and an 8 miler since my marathon - feeling good and managed a 4 miler at marathon pace! Looking to do about 12 miles this weekend and then a longer run next Sunday - fingers crossed. Shame to hear about people having to drop out - but also good that this first time marathon has attracted a full house!!!
I've got all sorts of aches and pains. I'm not sure doing this was such a good idea after London but I'm doing it anyway. Just hope I make it round without breaking.
I am totally new to threads as you can probably guess! Been training hard for Chester I assumed it would not fill up going off what I was reading on the forums. Was going to enter tomorrow but just rang the race director who told me no more entries to be accepted. I am gutted!! Anyone with a place going spare I will glady take it off your hands! Message me please guys.
Wev - i know how you're feeling -did Stratford marathon (same day as London) haven't ran today but starting to get niggles/aches in shins - so hope I can keep the injuries at bay as I really want to do Chester (need to challenge mself). What's your plan for training over the next couple of weeks? I might need to pick up some tips. hang in there!
Did a 20 miler yesterday after having man flu and just getting over groin injury (what a mistake that was),I`m now a member of the walking wounded club again,Chester 1/2 on the 16th looks like it will have to be a training stroll so as to be fit for the big day.
I'm just doing my 14 day hard mileage weeks at the moment on very little calories, so praying I can come in at my lightest race weight... hopefully should do around 140 miles in these two weeks... then it'll be two weeks taper so I'm fresh... looking forward to this more than I was last week... it's all in the mind now, most of my training is done...

Morning all - sorry to hear about all the injuries,
had a great 20 miler on Sunday felt so so fresh, so hoping for agood final proper long run of 22 on Sunday this week.
Then the week after off on jollies for a few weeks, the only shame, no booze so that'll be interesting.
Happy shuffling all!

Hahaha, good point, BUT then you're on your feet longer... I just can't do that, my legs give in, so the quicker they go by, the easier for me hahaha.
