What a shame - the handy cavity under the front steps has been bricked up - perhaps I can persuade the builder to unbrick it - for a while

That's a point. How does rewiring a house cause such a nuisance to one's neighbours.
It's well known that redeveloping one's residence is the only way the debt ridden rabble are able to get any equity in their house.
Never occurs to them to pay their debts off.

Nothing to do with being debt ridden and Bear + Cat are not much of a rabble. It is to do with fact that flat (single bedroom, single bog) has not been properly redecorated/refurbished since early 1970's, during time heavy smoking, slightly psychopathic first husband managed to wreak a fair bit of internal damage. No. 2 did his best, but was not very good at interior decoration and as his health deteriorated he became more and more upset at my suggestion that I should employ a professional.
I am one of the first people to have moved into this particular terrace after the condemnation order was changed to a preservation one so that I have over the years had to put up with noise and inconvenience from other houses in the area being 'gentrified' - including that of my complaining neighbour. This is the first major renovation since then.
Having ranted I think RicF might have a good idea. He, his partner + (nice) dog are mightily welcome to squidge into the bedroom - if they can find enough space (full of stored stuff) whilst Muffin and I shall luxuriate in their 4 storey building - living in the top floors so as to avoid building noise.
Not sure what idea that is.
I don't have a 4 story building, or a dog.
I live in a maisonette. I've already mentioned this.

I think I was reacting to what Poacher said. It shows you how things escalate even on-line. We have sent conciliatory notes to next door asking when we could carry out work at least convenience to him - the police also suggested that to him. He has not responded. He also lied about how he behaved when he contacted us.
Anyway think nuff said. Work completely legal - he can huff and puff but won't blow house down.

VD. I have had two pairs of boosts since then and I got on with the dyad's, I broke the foot really bad when I was 21, loads of complications followed including getting it re-broke and set. It has never set right and the bones have grown abnormally. I even have a point at the top that just keeps getting bigger.
Considering how it was and 27 years later I have had a bloody good innings but the constant aching and pressure I feel never goes away. Its just about me tolerating it but since last summer it has crept up.

Asitis, I had my thigh broken and extended as a toddler some 40 years ago and have loads of niggles as a result so I understand your pain.
What a strange community. Give you nice landscape and you don't seem bothered. Post a photo of some rust on a bridge or a lump of wood and you're all over it
