I guess, given the choice I'd prefer to just do a flatish 20 miler. Building a 20 miler around a race is never quite the same as a continuous run....plus it can all be over by mid morning!
FL - Won't be doing Reverse 10 tomorrow I'm afraid......I wanted to get a decent long run in this week, so did just over 20 miles this afternoon in 2:07.
Hope you have a good one tomorrow, bring home some prizes!!!
FF, ok mate. And thats a cracking 20mile time for training. I need to be doing them too!
As for the garmin, its started adding the paused time to the run time when I up load it to my laptop!!!! phoned garmin and they said it was ment to do it!
Hi Bryn - You should have told me before my long run today, I'd have joined you for the run and added a few on top!
Haven't plugged my watch in to the computer so not sure what the pace was and don't know what buttons to press on the watch to work it out...? Did first 10 in 62 mins.
Fl, sorry to hear about your race, at least you know you can do sub 60, based on your 5 mile time. doing an easy run tomorrow, let me know what time your back
Ff, , did my 14 in 1.26, ended up being 6.10 pace. Was disappointment as was averaging 6.04 before turning back into.the wind after 8 mile and it battering me all the way back
FL - Not a great race then? Last time I went the wrong way in a race, it added 4 miles.....ended up running 30 miles....not my finest moment, especially as it was over 200 mile round trip in the car to get there. On the positive side your splits were good!
Yes bad day at the office today! all for the sake of a piece of tape across a gate!!!! I did about 66 for 11mile and came through the 10m on my watch in 60:50 after stopping on the mountain to find the right way. Worked the splits out and maybe could have done 59:45ish!!! but who knows.
Bryn - I might do the loop with you and the club tomorrow for a change then, where does everyone meet up? How long is the loop?
I tried and failed to do my 1 mile intervals at closer to 5:15 pace last night - but it's just a step too far!! I can knock them out at 5:30 consistently and the odd one at 5:25ish, its annoying me!
I've just got a fresh pair of these for London....
As for the weekend, i'm looking for 22mile. Depending on weather, i'd like to go up to rheola, up the canal if its dry or down to black pill if its wet. Need a flat run and a bit of pace. FF I said BIT of pace not a race.
Bryn, 14 mile done mate. Thanks for the company for most of it. Not a very nice night out there!

Just back from 10....rain just about kept off!
Haven't done the Reverse 10 for a few years, but might do, got to get the long run in somewhere though?!
Booked the hotel in London today as well....
FF, thanks mate
If we do the reverse10 we can add some miles before and after. If we don't do it I would like to get a flat-ish 20 in and try and get a good pace.

So what's the plan then for the weekend?
My Runner's World "sub 3" email received today says that I should be doing 22 miles this Sunday!!
Are still going the Reverse 10?
I was looking at Gerbsellaise's world record marathon time in Berlin - he covered the last 5K in 14:29
FL, typed your tempo look in to the Fetch predictor and got 60.21. This is good stuff for your run at the weekend
FF/NST, have a good run on the weekend
Thats slower than I have done already though.
Spent 40mins on the phone to garmin last night for them just to tell me there was nothing wrong with my watch!!!!

Bryn - 6:10 good running mate. I hate running into the wind......maybe we can get a run in this week sometime?
Evening lads.

NST came 4th and I think 3rd senior I think.
Guys - whats the plan for Sunday's long run? Bryn - can you do the first bit with us maybe? Is NST going to be around?
Fl. Enjoy your 14 miler tonight, I'm going to stick to a 9/10 miler. What you doing tonight Ff?
Bryn - I did speedwork session yesterday, will be late getting back from Cardiff tonight so will limit what I can do....
Will go for a tempo run tomorrow I think...
BTW - I've got something for your little un when I see you next...
I'm back in work from next week ... only for 3 days, but ill come around on atleast one for a run, thanks for buying something

Yes very good read there mate.

Fl, ended up doing 12.5 in the end, with run from my house.
FF, if you come here it will be just under 10m in total. If you go to the Brook, dont park in there, you will have to park out side.
See you all later.
Re. Sunday run, there's only one speed mate -
Taken from article above on tempo....
"Scotland’s Liz McColgan was running 20 miles in training at 5:34/mile pace"
Don't worry we'll be slightly slower than that.
