Kaz - You need to recover from your double marathon weekend and take it easy before your next race. It maybe a good idea to wear too much clothing running before Malta to get use to the temperature difference.
Now then boss, do we need a strategy to get you to Brighton in tip top form?
From where I'm looking, you need to try out the race strategy in Malta if you feel up to the job. Then it'll be steady away in March (there's time for an easy-ish mara or a couple of fastish halves) then very very easy on the weekend before Brighton.
That sounds like a good opportunity for a good leg stretch and see what happens.
My next race is the Ashby 20 4 weeks today.
I've had a lovely week of recovery runs; I've been very disciplined and paid attention to the HRM. I'll do a 10 miler later today and then start the faster stuff on Tuesday.
I had a shocker this morning. Mrs XB is away to her mother's for half term so I got her to drop me 10 miles from home and I was planning to plod my way back home at a low HR reading.
Almost immediately the HR spiked and stayed high. So I walked and it fell like a stone. But as soon as I even thought about running it was up where I'd expect it during a 10k race. It went on like this for an hour and then suddenly it was back to normal. I would have been happy just bimbling about except I was on an A-road and it was freezing.
I went out with the dog this morning for a 7 mile plod. Same idea as yesterday, nice and staedy with low HR. Today's was altogether better. I've no idea why. Perhaps getting up at 0500 means that I can get my run in before my heart has woken up!!
Hope the snow's gone XB. Funny how some days a run goes well and others it doesn't, especially when you don't actually feel any different.
Last night's plod was unexpectedly speedy but today's was a much more sedate affair. Course I'm not really a morning person so that doesn't help!!
T, the trouble with the park run for me is that it b*ggers up the whole morning and I've rarely got that kind of spare time just for a 5k. Now a 5k in somewhere like Harrow Lodge Park would be a whole different ball game!
Then I shall be packing my bags for Malta. I presume you've got a ticket for me, Kaz. That was part of the mentoring deal wasn't it? I accompany you, at your expense, to all races where the weather is warm. Read the small print
I wish I could have a few days somewhere warmer. My bro-in-law has just rented a house in the Bahamas and that is where I think I should go. I'm just a bit short of time and money.
I plan to behave but I may get carried away on the downhill bits (ok so that's most of the 26 miles!)! I'm likely going to be running some (if not all) of it with MissP and possibly Stander.
I know you'll do the right thing. If it were me and everything felt just right then I'd give it a good kick and see what I can get. You've got to take your chances when they present themselves.

I really am enjoying my running at the mo'
Good to hear you're enjoying it. I've been really off the boil all week but had a really fun run yesterday afternoon.
8.79 this morning - ran to club, First Steps, run home. So much to do this afternoon yet so little time!!
Oh dear. I spoke too soon

Ah well, I guess they can't all be good runs.
It's bliddy snowing.

I shall be intervalling later this morning.

Have to take my specs off to read the small print nowadays!
Forecast for the weekend keeps changing! Wind's dropped, still a chance of rain and somewhere around 13 degs. Won't be sunbathing weather methinks!
Morning-ish
A real miserable day in Lancashire.
I wish I could have a few days somewhere warmer. My bro-in-law has just rented a house in the Bahamas and that is where I think I should go. I'm just a bit short of time and money.
Pretty miserable day down here in Londinium too unf
Ooh Bahamas. Now that sounds lush!
What time are we flying?
7.30 Sat morn. Lovely early start
Good prep for a lovely early start on Sun
I might just jog to the start from home. Be a good warm up.
Are you going to behave yourself? A nicely paced effort should show those Maltesers what you're made of.
Nice easy jog that
