Poolmate is OK, occaisonally get wrong reading on number of lengths but that is because it needs a 2m glide when you turn and push off, my breast stroke seems to confuse it. Says it can be set according to pool distance but if using 2 pools of different distance you would have to keep changing the set up to get it to record accurately.
I have a denim blue Casio sports watch for running and a basic Cateye bike computer. the Poolmate was a Xmas pressie a few years ago when they were the new gadget.
Last night I feel asleep in front on the tv early in the evening and slept straight through to this morning. Tonight came home, did some jobs around the house, had dinner and then fell asleep again. Mrs has been in bed most of the night. Both praying we're not coming down with something
Anyway, managed to peel myself off the sofa for a run I really didn't want to do. Think the schedule said 2 hours, I promised myself I'd finish after a 6 mile loop. After 6 miles, talked myself into doing another 3 mile loop, but then really had had enough and decided to call it a day. So just shy of 9 miles will do me.
Sports physio tomorrow.
In more exciting news my Great Swim East swimming cap turned up this morning. 2 mile timed swim on Saturday morning, be really good to get an idea of time for Outlaw (or be a complete confidence destroyer!)
Razor - if you do attach the cleat to your cast, just make sure the screws/nail aren't too long!! If ou feel a sharp pain in your foot - stop!!
MA - take it easy and hope you feel better mate!
Well, rumours are my OD tri on Sunday may turn into a Dua - the Thames is flowing to hard to swim in safely!! They will make a final decision on Sat, but with more rain forecast its not looking good. A little relieved as I didn't fancy trying to swim 1.5k upstream if there's a strong flow! A 1km run instead seems a lot easier!
ST........you still on a 6 day rest and 1 train programe...
1 hr turbo this morning out in the garden....been pondering weather to fix my cleat onto the bottom of my cast so It stops slipping off the pedal.....
LOL Razor! like the thinking with cleat... I really don't see why you couldn't do the outlaw?!? air cast for the swim, cast with cleat for the bike and a good pair of carbon fibre crutches and a lightweight cast for the run...
MA - hope you're feeling better mate
RAF - sorry about the thames mate, but better safe than sorry!
Razor - Way to go on the turbo-ing. I'd stick with that for now and ignored GasTanks mad ideas!
Rafi - hope you get the decision you want with regards to the tri - but then again safety first and all that, annoying as it is. Best of luck with it though!
MC - thats exciting stuff!
Thanks for all the well wishes. I appear to be alright me thinks? Still feeling a bit tired, but training will resume back to normal tomorrow with an OW swim in the morning.
Just had sports physio on my back - still some tight muscles on there, which is hopefully where the pain on the bike is coming from. Got some stretches to do, and she went overtime on the muscles - apparently I might have some bruising tomorrow!
Collected Tent and stuff from Cat5 today, getting excited and nervous about the Outlaw now. Lists to be written so I don't forget anything, usually forget something. Top of list is Rescue Remedy to calm the nerves.
Hoping to get a short run in tomorrow if bite blister goes down some more, it is at the edge where the shoe will rub it.
MA - think you may have the start of taper madness or hayfever. Look after yourself.
Chilli - how are you recovering from your marathon. At least Outlaw is a flat run, really flat compared to what you did.
Ma - like steady says, may just be taper madness? I forgot about that (0; Hills were self inflicted intense. Did 16x1min with 1 min easy intervals on hard setting on the cross trainer then 14x1min with 1 min easy on the highest hills the treadmill would go to. Fellow gym goers lOoking at me like I is a loony. Me trying to keep my heart in my chest (0: then did stretching and foam rollering.
Think it could be taper madness and/or hayfever. Also think I need a few early nights!
Sports physio was fairly intense last night, so much so I decided not to go swimming this morning due to aches. Feeling better now, so all should be ok for tomorrow. Looks like a fairly poor week of training for me this week Ah well, just have to hit all the sessions next week
Good to anybody racing this weekend - hope the weather improves - tipping it down here at the moment
It is, but then again I drove through henly this morning and looked at the Thames and thought no way could I, or do I want to, swim in that!! I htink no matter how hard I swam, I'd still go backwards!! Plus they say there is a lot of debris in the river - branches etc, which could cause serious problems!!
My 1st tri was in the sea, and when I arrived they said they'd halved all the swim distances due to the conditions. Then after the super-sprint and oly's had gone, they announced the sprint would be a dua due to the conditions worsening. I was gutted.
About 20 minutes before the start they said the life guards had altered it so the swim could go ahead, but at a very short distance. Once I got done to the waters edge I was gutted they hadn't stuck to the dua idea! It was all good fun though - it was swimming for survival at times, rather than swimming!
The Great East Swim has just been postponed to Sunday due to the conditions.
MA..... Max on the other thread says he feels more tired now the volume has decreased and puts it down to taper madness.... .....think I'll just stick to turboing.
Gas .... I like your thinking for Outlaw ..even though I would be totally fekking mad to try it...
I am going to have to rethink tomorrow's plans too. I was intending to cycle the 14 miles to my nearest parkrun, run it, then cycle back. Heavy rain forecast so may have to go to the gym instead and try to get into the spinning class. What a pain.
Steady - I am feeling great. Race on Sat and felt a bit sore on Mon/Tues. But am planning 5/6 miles or so this afternoon. And yes, I confess to the relief of knowing the route will be flat!
Ok ow last night first on since my last race last September, used my new wet suit which rubbed a lot round my neck causing a real bad sore on back of neck. Anyway went with the plan to do just one loop of the first island 450m. Didn't want to over do it , it was very choppy last night was like being in the sea lol still quite toastie at 17 deg. Did bout first 100m then did my treading water breaststroke ( why can't I do breaststroke. ) goggles were playing up to very misty so couldn't see much when head was out of water. Did first loop swam back to side sorted goggles out then decided I was already wet and went round for second loop. I seem to get better rhythm when tired, not faster just more relaxed? New suit gave me better buoyancy but bit tight round neck so need to put glide on. Driving home I thought how the feck did I do two and a bit loops 1900m last September then 86k bike then half Marafun? I really struggled this morning body/shoulders were aching thought I had played a tough game of rugby not done ow swim lol.
Gastank I want to do IM next year but IMUK over ??100 more than outlaw plus I live in midlands so money wise would be best for me to do outlaw. We will see
On Saturday I met two pirates wearing the colours, which caused me to remember that i hadn't done any training in my monaco so tonight I wore it for my 5miles. How come my cheap shorts that cost £6 are fine, but my professionally produce mega-expense monaco is sooooo uncomfortable!
The zip top scratches my neck and the waist rides up over my podgy tum. Am going to try sewing down the zip top and pinning the waist seam to my shorts.

In length" on the tin!!! Hahaha, well glad I know that now (0:
Did 1 hour body pump class tonight then foam rollered my naughty left ITB to breaking point. Bl**dy thing!
nice bike gastank - love the way they describe it 'so fast it wins ironman world championships' haha, not if I was riding it it wouldn't!!

They have started putting up all the advance warning signs for the outlaw on the roads
Go for it ST!
MA - hope you're feeling better
MC - that s very exciting
Rafiki - hope your race works out.
LOL Razor! like the thinking with cleat... I really don't see why you couldn't do the outlaw?!? air cast for the swim, cast with cleat for the bike and a good pair of carbon fibre crutches and a lightweight cast for the run...

Just been informed my Tri on Sunday is going to be a Dua!! Too dangerous to swim in the Thames...... doh!!
Shame about it being a Dua but better safe than sorry.
It is, but then again I drove through henly this morning and looked at the Thames and thought no way could I, or do I want to, swim in that!! I htink no matter how hard I swam, I'd still go backwards!! Plus they say there is a lot of debris in the river - branches etc, which could cause serious problems!!

The weather is looking a bit sh*t at the moment. Sure it will be right through.

Gas .... I like your thinking for Outlaw ..even though I would be totally fekking mad to try it...
