Anyone up for a pre-race Friday pint once I've worked out this registration process? I'll be going for my traditional fish and chips as this is I think my fourth year.

I think I am going to have to withdraw from this as to little training. Would like to make my place available to someone else. Whats the best way to go about it? Is it ok just to pass on your details or is there some sort of process to go through which I am not aware of?
Look forward to seeing you on the start line Plum - well unless its raining of course. I think this will be my 5th Beachy...goodness what an idiot I am.
bit of water if its hot but that's about it. The support and food available on the course is like a buffet so I usually just take an emergency gel and fill up on the way round. Save some room for the soup/tea/cake event at the 16 mile aid station. Also build some time in to stop and chat there!
you need no more than if you are doing any other marathon although the weather might dictate what shoes and kit you wear as it can be pretty exposed in places. the feed stations are well spaced and stocked (there's an additional one this year in Jevington) so you don't need to take any drink or feed but if you want to, that's your call.
if the weather is great than a camera could come in handy to capture some of the views
and do say a big hello to me, my missus (Petal) and another forumite, HollyG, who will be marshalling at Lullington Heath which is the point where you come out of Friston Forest for the 1st time after a climb. and you should see us again just before you finish as we point you down the hill to the start/finish line
birdy - I don't think it's a big one like the one before Alfriston, but the organisers felt something was needed between the start and that one. not quite sure exactly where in Jevington but I suspect in the small car park just before you climb the chalk track into the Forest.
personally I think it's overkill - 8 miles to the Alfriston one is perfectly OK imho
BP - LoL I truly love this event and so looking forward to it, another eating opportunity is just great. usually manage to actually gain weight during this run anyway. Missed last year due to injury, also injured this year (torn muscle during Jack and Jill run in July) but going to do it anyway and try to finish before it gets dark
Have run on the Downs the last couple of weeks, it's extremely dry for this time of year. I might wear flip flops.....
We will be above what is usually the first feedstation, after Windover Hill, at the gateway on the way down the hill. We will have jelly babies and jaffa cakes (must buy some!) we are in our usual second spot too right at the top of the last downhill to the finish ...I see we will have company there is year FB
Went for a walk on part of the course and it is bone dry, no mud even in the woods. Let's hope it stays that way. I hope everyone running is enjoying their taper

yes there is a danger I might have a pint at the finish and never make it into town... I will try though!
I'm going to go and have fish and chip in my old neck of the woods on the way home
Are walkers welcome with the hardcore Runners ?

Give it a go, there will be plenty of walkers on the course anyway

yeah probably right FB - I'll take any excuse for a break. I think in most of my trail maras they usually have aid stations around every 5-6 miles....
