Stupid scales are giving me jip - no movement even though I'm doing all the same things - I may have to resort to amputation to lose the rest of this stone...
Good one Meface, excellent weight loss! You're so right about JFDI'ing it. I've always had too many excuses, but I just need to apply the willpower, and succeed. Your comment about making a plan, sticking to it etc is perfect.
As they say, if you keep on doing the same thing, you can't expect different results. Time to make a permanent change, for the better.
I do appreciate the JFDI sentiment, but it is worth mentioning that the arrival of a baby is a happy event (and, I'm sure your wife did most of the hard work ), some of us are snowed under by much less pleasant happenings, which does make the getting on with training/dieting pretty tough - and feeling lousy for not JFDI-ing doesn't help. Just saying.
Hope things okay with you Frodo. It isn't always that simple, I agree. I know for myself it is though, hence my comment, but not necessarily for others. Definitely don't feel lousy if you're finding it hard to diet/exercise because you've got other more pressing priorities. You have to focus on getting through sometimes, and worry about the rest later. Hugs to you x
Thanks, Lee Things are fairly rubbish, but I've moaned about them enough elsewhere and today, well, the sun is finally shining, so it can't be all bad
PS Due to the rubbishness of the last two weeks, I do hope this challenge is continuing - I have some catching up to do on both training and weight loss fronts
PPS Don't panic, Doughnuts, I may not be holding my end of the bargain on the weight loss front, but I shouldn't have gained, either. And I plan, if stuff will allow, to get some good training hours in over the next few days.
Congratulations Meface, that's fantastic news. My scales are playing the bouncing game at the moment. I know there's mixed opinions on it but I am a believer in daily weighing. That way I don't get freaked by a big bounce in the wrong direction. I know if I gain 3 pounds in 1 day that it's just water retention or something. But I do hope it's the low end of the bounce at the next weigh in! Is that Monday?
(and, I'm sure your wife did most of the hard work ),
Not quite, most of the hard work was done by a Surgeon, a registrar, a consultant, an anesthetist, some nurses, several midwifes, some care assistants, some more midwives, another consultant, another surgeon (looking at results of tests), a couple of porters, the team in the SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit) and probably a few I have missed out, and a few whose job titles I can't spell. My wife just likes the attention:
I agree life can get in the way of training - a lot, and this is a real reason, not an excuse. People can't be in two places at once for instance. We all have times when we can't fit the training in.
**Gives ((Hug)) to Frodo to help with the troubles**
Tee hee, Orca and Meface (and I hope Titch is continuing to thrive)
Found myself with a swimming pool to my ownsome last night, so spent a very silly half hour trying to teach myself the basics of front crawl. Nothing like splashing about and making a complete tit of yourself to help lighten your mood
PS no worries on the Mr F front, we is a pair of hobbit-sized people. Though he'd probably like me to add he used to be a boxer
Morning all Frodo, I splash about making a tit of myself in the pool too, except i'm having lessons, hehehe. Morning swim for me. Weight doing okay, down another 2 lbs I think. Hopefully maybe another lb by final weigh in. It is coming off slowly, but i'm okay with that, so long as it keeps coming off! Need to re-measure myself too, as I think my shape is changing (from beachball to beachball-with-belt on)
Will, you lost a lot in the first half of the month, so it probably isn't realistic to think you'll do the same in the second half, as that level of weightloss isn't really sustainable, or ideal, week-in, week-out. If you've put on 3lb then lost it again, you're doing alright
If I'm down another pound I'll be happy enough. I've about 10lbs in total to go and I find it tends to be slow at that stage. I have found this week tough though. I've been trying to fit everything in by burning the candle at both ends and for me there is nothing like tiredness to make it difficult for me to stick to good food choices.
for me there is nothing like tiredness to make it difficult for me to stick to good food choices.
Orca, I couldn't agree more. When tired the brain is weak and we give in. However if you are short of sleep you are likely to be burning more calories.
When a student I used to work a lot in hotels and used to work Friday night 6pm - 2am , Saturday 6am - 2am, Sunday 6am - 4pm. Yes 38 hours in a weekend. The only way through was to eat constantly. I seemed to be able to substitute food for sleep. It does work.
I presume you are burning the candle at both ends (and the middle if it will light) because you have deemed something important enough. In which case it is a choice - of sorts. Get through it then get back on track. We have to adapt all plans both short and long term based on what life throws at us.
Frodo, I used to be a doorman in a nightclub in Newcastle then Brighton, so if he is a lighter-weight boxer I think I should be OK!
Keep up the good work Sausages. Donuts I am willing to provide free Pizza, please PM me names and addresses and I will get them delivered!
Was there a decision on starting another challenge for March? It's really helped me look at not eating certain things and swapping out some treats for fruit etc.
Looking forward to the weigh in, I don't think it'll be any more than a pound or two, but I've gone back down a jeans size and am feeling a fair bit trimmer
Right my weigh-in for today is 222lb. I was down further 2lbs last week, but today showing higher. Hoping it is just water retention; I drank a lot yesterday
Meface, the burning of the candle should end tonight. The last of my immediate assignments is due at 5pm tomorrow and as I work full time, realistically that means whatever time I finish up tonight. That's why I'm glad the challenge is going for another month, the second half of February was hard going for me but I should be able to get back on track this week (hmmm, dinner out on Thursday and dinner party Saturday, could be interesting!)
No more than 2 hours sleep at a stretch for a few days! So will also be looking to get focussed again shortly. My aim was just not to put anything back on during the first week. Which I have done. Yippee.
188lbs, 4lbs lost in last 2 weeks. Not as much as I wanted cus I've trained my arse off, but at least it's still coming off. Target is 12 stone by July.
OK, let's be having you then .... I'll cast the first stone

Arggg that sucks I hope things improve pronto for you love. The challenge is continuing, so no worries there. I'll be here until year end I think!
If you can get out training, tho, that'd be great, purely because you'll probably feel the better for it
Congratulations Meface, that's fantastic news.
