Would have thought a rolling road or similar would be advisable if it's getting to the point of being dangerous rather than both of you going out on the road in it
D2D...............don't you feel bad about slagging off the insurance company earlier.........before they even had a chance to try and help............if you do that with real people you will soon lose your friends..........
even if they decide that it is not accident related which they might then they have still gone out of their way to try and help you out of the mess you made.........................
Can I just ask a quick, general, question to anyone who's 'in the know'?
If the car is that old and the repairs (so far) have cost £3000, then how come the insurance company didn't just write it off? Surely the car isn't worth that much......or is it???
15 min walk would be 10min miles 20-25mins would be reasonable. Not far enough to be worth running, it's not even a warm up. Walking is very under rated for recovery and cross training though. I would definately find 15 miles of walking a week useful.

One being removing the risk of anyone reversing into your 'classic' car and increasing the risk of another thread
Enviromental and health reasons also apply

I know it's quite besides the point from the OP, but a 3 mile round trip doesn't require a car, surely?
Yeah but...um its er...1 1/2 miles....you have a car that you pay insurance for , MOT etc to travel 1 1/2 miles.
Thats a 15 minute walk, 20 minutes max. If I lived that close to work i would move just to put more distance between me and work!
