Yeh Macks it was a bit heavier in the rain and it kept flapping around my legs and getting in the way. My headpiece was easier to wear than I frst thought.
You should be so proud Macks as just doing the race is the achievement in my eyes.
Morning guys! Ecky that's such a great time welldone. I feel really sad that it's all over! Everyone did so well!
Macks can't believe you managed to jog back from school today, welldone, I am struggling to put one foot in front of the other! Aiming to go out running on Thursday eve. Want to keep the momentum so need to find a new race to aim for!
Does anyone know when the official photos will be ready to view? Can't wait to see them!
Hi Sara, I will be getting an Email when the pics are ready, will post it up on here, I am keen to get the training back on track too obviously I need a rest but I am just so happy that apart from the normal stiffness, I have not had any bad reactions that I thought, maybe changing to heel strike is the way forward for me as running what many people consider to be right and natural, just wasn't working ...well at least for me anyway. Ecks, really glad I did do some hill work now, this time I will try and get them in at the final few miles of a run, after experiencing it I managed ok but can see on this course that's where the time can go pear shaped....just signed up for Edinburgh half mara, looks a kind course, not quite ready for the big one yet but in 2013...who knows
Yeh. I had the rejection one last year . I cant imagine ever getting a place for that one. I must admit after 13 miles on Sun I cant imagine running any mor that 13 miles.lol
Hi All, I need to read back - That will have to happen tomorrow, Hope your race went brilliantly. Legs hurting alittle still, esp when going downstairs!! Had a wonderful day. My time was 2.36. I HAVE to get 2.29 next year. Until tomorrow. X
Lol, the Edinburgh half looks nicer I must Admit, was tempted to just enter the marathon as it's not until may..but I bottled it, I did put a 2.10 finish down just to put prssure on meself ..you can do it Ecks, fingers crossed you get in
Quick Little Moan - Just got home from the paper shop. Wanted to get the Daily Mirror to have as a keep sake. Then noticed its not for sale down here with GNR results & photos. Thats not fair.
Thats a great pic Andrew. You did a brilliant time too.
I went to a works Circuits class last night which is usuall not too heavy. Tonnes of squats ans leg work OUCHIE.I kept having to stop as my legs just wouldnt take it.Going to try for a little plod tomorrow.
I am off for a little run tonight too, fingers crossed.
I am doing a 10K in Northampton in a fortnight and a HM in 6 weeks. I want to book another couple before the end of the year if possible as I don't want to slip now. I would like to do the edinborugh run but it is just too far!
Good luck with your run tonight Sam. Looks like you are going to be busy too then.
I only have my HM now in 4 weeks but may do Cross Country over the winter months.I have never done one before but I reckon it will be a laugh.
My friend did Edinburgh and said it was amazing. I just cant imagine doing a full Marathon after Sun.I dont think I could have run another step. I struggled to walk back to the car.lol.
Yep some great piccies, will get mine up when I'm home from work, going to go out Tomorrow for a slow jog, haven't got any races planned now til the Edinburgh, but will be looking for some 10k's to throw in along the way, Sam did you mean too far as in to travel or too far to run?, as you get the option of running different distances, I opted for the half won't be doing a marathon for a while yet.
Good to hear that everyone is still continuing with running and other forms of excercise only two days after completing GNR ( ARE WE ALL MAD ? ) or is it that as i found out a few years ago running is so addictive ?
I have just run into work this morning a very , very gentle 3 miles as I ahve the BUPA Great Yorkshire run on 9th OCT - then another couple of 10ks planned for end of Oct and early Dec.
And finaly just entered the Sheffield Half on 29th April 2012 - surely cant be as tough as GNR - i have done it the last four years and its a flat as you can get in Sheffield
Everyone sorry for the late congrats to you all on your times, just come back to work today and managed to read all the posts. Really pleased that everyone is happy with their times and acheivments over the weekend.
I managed 1:30:04 which im very happy about though each mile i ran got slower and slower, definatly got carried away at the begining, pacing myself must be worked on.
I for one am an utter nutter when it comes to running. Ooh I would love to do a nice flat half I did find the GNR quite a hilly one.Looking at them they dont seem too bad but are killers.
I dd a HM earlier in the Year at Uttoxeter and that was horrendous.I had to walk up them hills as they were so steep.
Amazing time Andrew, yes I will be entering, looking forward to it already hopefully by then will have dropped another couple of stone and would love to get close to 2hrs but I will be another year older..ooh err, anyway here is me crusing to the finish
I will enter if I dont get into VLM as it would cost me too much to do both.I will do it again at some point though as I love it so much. Its the people.
Just filled the Bupa questionnaire in, I realise it's as much to do with marketing as anything else but I did say the drinks should be in smaller bottles at more stations, purely to save the waste, and cut down on the little bleeps picking them up and either squirting or throwing them at runners, not happy about that in my manor...no respect
Macks - I am so sorry to read the news of your Dad. *Thinking of you & your family*. On my way home on Monday there was this big truck on the motorway with this written on the back - My Dearest Mother &Father are sleeping. The magical memories I'll be forever keeping. I thought that was nice.
Hope your all back to normal - Joints wise etc..I have the worst cold & hacking cough. Just glad its arrived now and not last week. Having until tomorrow off running & then start training for the Bupa Great South Run in Portsmouth at the end of October. Only 10 miles. hehe...Atleast its, FLAT.
I'm down for next years GNR & trying to book a hotel. All the decent lower priced ones seem to be already full. MACKS - Do you know of any good guest houses/hotels in South Shields ? Thinking of staying at the finish for 2012. (Great photo - looking strong)
I agree with you Macks about some runners needing to use more or 'some' deo. It was also quite smelly on the Metro. Everytime it stopped & pulled off this gust of smelly air came gushing along .. Urrr..
Hi Pixie, it is hard but realistically it was kinder to him after a long hard battle, Cancer is horrendous and something unfortunately most of us will be affected by in some way, was just going to try the ballot for next year but think I will probably run for a cancer charity now, maybe Clic sargent as that is a kids one.
I have not stayed in any guest houses but there are a few down Ocean road...near to coast, i have stayed here, but it was in the Penthouse for my wifes 40th

You could do it Macks. I'm just waiting for my rejected or accepted magazine for 2012.

Hi Pixie. Hope your cold goes soon.
Your 10 miler will be nothing compared to Sun.lol.
I just managed a 3 miler and felt pretty comfy.I did wake up with aches though.
