Yep, Audley - he's been in the bottom two a lot.

Not quite sure why they chose a couple who specialise in the Argentine Tango to go to the Rememberance ceremony image

An Italian couple specialising in the Argenitine Tango at that..................

Right result for me - I liked Audley but I think even he recognised he'd gone as far as he could.  Very galant comments too.

I've still never warmed to Anita either, so was rooting for Alex not to be the second in the bottom 2. Russell is definitely the next who SHOULD go, but I don't think he will. At least he's not as bad as John Sargeant, so if he stays a couple more weeks, I won't be screaming at the telly.

Delighted Robbie stepped up this week - I did like his dance last week, but not his Paso.

I thought Holly and Brendan did a pretty good job considering the short time they had together, but did think the leg thing was a bit odd.  Not sure why they used it in the recap - there were better bits.

Loved Robin and Kristina's dance to the Christina Perri's song (which wasn't great, but that's another thread.....) - that flying leap into his arms was spectacular - I rewound it 3 times.

Alex & James - didn't really like it. Is it just me or have all the jives been rather lacklustre this series? I always have high hopes for them, but so far there hasn't been one that has blown me away. I disliked the cheerleader outfits ... it seemed like an odd choice when the routine wasn't particularly energetic or with gymnastic, cheerleader-ey moves. Also a jive with that song and rag doll prop has already been done on DWTS (Kelly Osbourne), it makes me think that James has been browsing YouTube for inspiration instead of coming up with his own ideas.

Robbie & Ola - a decent routine, although some of the lifts looked a bit awkward. I'm glad he got some recognition from the judges this week but I didn't think there was a vast improvement in his performance compared to last week. Actually I think that the judges had decided they had been quite harsh last week and gave him accurate feedback this week.

Audley & Natalie - poor Audley, he is a gent but it was his time to go. It definitely was dad-disco dancing instead of a cha cha. And he almost forgot to catch Natalie when she went into the splits at the end!

Harry & Aliona - loved it, but it didn't quite have the wow factor of other ATs. I actually preferred their Halloween tango to this dance, although I think that this was more technically correct. Len is the tango police, he has a very definite idea of what he likes to see in the tango and can be quite harsh when dancers fall short.

Jason & Kristina - liked it but wasn't blown away. However, as with Robbie & Ola, I felt that the judges were overcompensating for harsh critique last week. I get the feeling that Jason is running out of steam, he reminds me a bit of Scott last series. I hope he doesn't burn out prematurely, as I think he deserves to be in the semi-finals, if not the finals.

Chelsee & Pasha - liked it, but thought some sections were a little bit awkward (the final slide when she seemed to land like a sack of potatoes). Would have been better if she had a slightly shorter skirt so could see her footwork properly. I don't think she deserved a 10 (whereas the Quickstep she did a few weeks ago possibly did)

Anita & Robin - liked it, a classic tango with lots of content and she performed well, but I agree with other commenters that there is something about Anita that turns me off.

Holly & Brendan - hated it! I dislike the rumba anyway, its a difficult dance and I can only think of a few examples over all the series that I have actually liked (Rachel and Vincent, Kara and Artem and one of the show dances - possibly James and Ola). I thought they looked awkward, a bit clunky and THAT move (as the leg push shall be known) was horrendous. I think the rumba only really works where there is a great chemistry between the dancers and I didn't see it in that dance. Overmarked.

Russell & Flavia - liked it. He always brings a smile to my face, I think he's got a couple of weeks left in him yet. I wouldn't be upset if Anita and possibly Robbie went before him, but wouldn't want to see them become the next Chris & Ola!

I would've liked Kristina's dance more if she hadn't flashed so much gusset!!!

Loved the opening jitterbug/swing dance, especially Pasha image

Len is becoming v. unpleasant towards Craig and Aliona. I think someone needs to have a word or he should be replaced next series. He should stick to giving constructive criticism and stop answering back to the other judges. Bruno needs to stop drooling over Harry, it's a bit unpleasant now. Agree that Alesha has really improved, Len2.

I don't think he's forgiven Aliona for saying on OTT that she ignored the judges' comments!

He really needs to let it go. He seems to be fine about Artem choreographing random stuff in his dances this year so he looks a bit mean when he picks on Aliona every week. Her AT was really good and I thought Harry had good intensity so I couldn't understand what Len was going on about.

I've just realised that I've been to the Wembley Arena - Simple Minds in 1989 I think. Now I feel really old...

  • Options

    Agree with a lot.

I thought Harry's was OK. It did seem Aliona was doing mrore work BUT Harry needed to give her the platform to do that. Good dance. I think Len just has views on what he likes and it didn;t work for him although he still gave an 8. Remember this is art not sport and is therefore subjective. Also I am not 100% sure about Aliona's chereography either and come showdance time if Harry gets there (he looks like a finalist) then that could be an issue.

Chelsee - OK, few timing issues. She's a good dancer, I just can't warm to her. Acts like an immature 16 year old. She is young but she is in her twenties...

Holly - alright for a Rumba, but it is a Rumba. Brendan seemed really happy to have swapped Lulu for Holly!

Jason - OK but the comparison with Scott above is a good one. Will he tail off.

Anita - liked the dance but on Saturday night the wife and I agreed that as she was bang smack in the middle of the leaderboard she could be in trouble. Not high enough to survive on judges scores alone, not low enough to get people voting to save her. So although she didn't deserve to be in the botton 2,  I wasn't in the least bit surprised.

Robbie, I did think it was better than he has done but it was Ballroom. If he is Latin next week then he could be a gonner.

Alex - I still quite like her,. I thought the Jive was good apart from the point all the judges picked up on. The kicks and flicks weren't good and it was because the toes weren't pointed.

Russell - He is entertaining and it is deliberate (unlike Sergeant for instance) but his dancing isn't brilliant and he should go soon but I can see him outlasting Robbie (especially if he gets Latin next week).

Audley - well I said it last week, This week was Latin and that almost certainly meant Disassster darlin' and it wasn't good, I have been impressed with the effort he has made and he got this far on merit but this was the right time for him to go.

So next week should be Robbie and Russell in the bottom 2 in my opinion but of course it depends everyone does on the night AND it is Wembley. It will be a big dance floor although contained in the middle of the arena I imagine, However the crowd will be huge compared to what they are used to.

Extra nerves for all but the really nervours ones might implode. That could well be Robbie, especially if doing a Latin, but also Alex might fall part as well although she should be doing ballroom.

Also if anybody has Rumba next week then they automatically are at risk.

So lets see but a good season so far.

Harry and Chelsee look to be front runners with either of the Aussies probably making up the final BUT still some way to go and remember everybody had a dance that doesn't suit them. Some have probably already done theirs, others probably haven't yet. If a good dancer gets an unfavourable dance late on in the series when only good people are left it can be a problem.

Brooks - completely agree with you about Chelsee. Compare her to Louisa from a few years ago. She was only 17 and was incredibly mature.

    Hello all,

Missed seeing the live show/results as we were away at a Veterans/Remembrance dinner dance in an museum aircraft hangar in Central Texas. They had a Glenn Miller tribute band and held a best fancy dress and best dancing competition (I remember thinking that although I was missing Strictly I was sat watching the real thing! Some excellent jives and foxtrots!) Off topic a bit but I have to say the Americans really know how to throw a party and I just love the way the way they are so patriotic especially at these sort of events.

Anyway back on topic image It's pretty much all been said by others, I thought Jason's VW was a bit too manic which spoilt it (anyone remember Mark & Karens?) Wasn't keen on the slide in Chelsee's dance - why? Can't see why Alex was penalised by Craig for her 'unpointed' kicks, I thought they were supposed to be more Lindy Hop style? Liked Anita's and I sort of agreed with Len re Harry, he did all the moves but it didn't flow and it looked too placed. Robbie's lifts didn't seem to flow; he picked her up and then put her down and it didn't meld in with the dance. Liked Holly and Brendan together. Liked Russell's routine least of any of his.

    Welcome back, TopSec! image

I bet some of the dancing you saw was better than last week on SCD image

Why is there so much fuss over Len calling Craig a "silly sod"? He apologised straight away, and it was clearly a slip of the tongue rather than intended to be a viscious slur. 600 complaints to the BBC! 600 people need to get a life ...
  • Options

I didn't think it was worth complaining over what he said but the way he said was nasty. Not enough to complain about certainly, but I'd like someone to have a word with him to try and get his temper under control.

Maybe it's time to give up doing both programs so he doesn't have jetlag all the time.

I don't have a life, stuck at work doing a data migration... image

Yes, I think it is time Len settled on either SCD or DWS and, the way he is carrying on these days, I wouldn't mind if he decided on DWS!

James was saying on ITT last night that the jive was supposed tobe Lindy hop stylee and the ankles dorsiflexed - but in that case I don't think they were flexed enough. What I do know is that the kicks and flicks looked very ugly and untidy to me.

I like Len, but he needs to learn to respect others opinions, whether it's 'put on' for TV or not, I just find it extremely rude and bad mannered. Wouldn't be assed to write and complain though.

Jason's Jive looking good on ITT tonight image

Got home after my overtime to watch Wednesday's ITT with dinner and a drink. What a lovely treat to see Artem and Brendan dancing together in training, nearly as good as last year's Jartem rumba image

Agree re. Jason's jive, it looks amazing!

OMG I thought Artem and Brendan dancing together was FAB!!! I may have enjoyed it more than I should lol imageimage.

I can't wait for Wembley - I think it's going to be fun!

    Blast - missed that

Need to find a non computer job for work this afternoon so I can put it on iplayer imageimage

Will make sure I watch this evening as one way or another I've missed everyone this week so far.........I find with Zoe in charge who irritates me immensely I put myself out much less to watch it

Well worth it if just for Brendan's reaction afterwards! image

I've been away all week, so have missed ITT. Do we know whether Artem or Brendan is dancing with Holly this weekend?

In defence of Robbie's lifts, he struggled a LOT in training with dizziness on the lofts, so probably HAD to be quite slow to take off again afterwards. (Can you tell I've got a soft spot for the Savage one?)

Haven't seen ITT since Tuesday either - sick child wanting to watch Peppa Pig is my excuse. What's the latest on Artem?
  • Options

Artem has been rehearsing, and has been given the medical go ahead to dance if it is not too painful. But Brendan is on stand by, and the decision on who dances may be taken quite late in the day.

On another forum (ok, ok, it's SagaZone) Chelseee's nickname is Miss Tupperware.

    Anita to go ?

No I think Anita's fans will vote to save her, unless her dance is really bad and she is bottom? In saying that Russell's dance is supposed to be way OTT and we know how the GBP love a 'show', so wherever he is I think he will get votes image

I think it may be Alex & Robbie with Alex to go?

I do like Artem but I wish Brendan could stay in image

That dance floor looks huge. It's going to be very interesting to see how everyone copes.

Unless the public decide Russell has entertained us enought I hope it will be Robbie going tomorrow. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Anita goes.
