Ooh sorry to hear that but unfortunately Iain we don't defer places but if you can get someone who wants to run to pay you then I can transfer your number to them as long as they do it before the closing date.
cool as it stands i will do what it takes to be fit and well for the day but ill go on the advice of the doc.. if i do run it ill have to take it slow (hmmm is that possible?) will let you know either way!!
Sir CdeC have finally got round to getting all the entries so far enveloped up and ready for posting - 4 1/2 hours it took!! Online entrants will go in the post Thursday/Friday but normal entries will go in the box tomorrow.
We have had on Friday a card from Royal Mail for Kent Coastal Marathon with insufficient postage - it won't be collected so if this could be you check the website next weekend and then email if your name doesn't appear
So far, sort of YP, how about you? I'm just really ticking over inbetween marathons so it's quite enjoyable actually. This will be my 28th marathon and my 4th this year and I'd like the weather to be fine and dry, or perhaps a little light drizzle, with a gentle breeze please
Got my number last week, 55 - thanks JFDI Support crew.
YP, your first marathon is always exciting so just relax and enjoy it as it will be a pb no matter what. P&D will certainly get you round OK and judging by your target time you must be a speedy young pup
Thanks Redhead - I am definitely viewing this as something to relax and enjoy, and that applies equally to my training.
Bizarrely, my reason for doing a marathon is more about the training than the actual event, but I knew I wouldn't stick to the training without having entered an event...
That sounds perfectly normal to me, YoungPup. I've already booked up for next year's Kent Roadrunner marathon on 1st June as it gives me a goal to work towards, and I am expecting to run several more between now and then.
hi folks, It is with a heavy heart, but i have to withdraw from the marathon this year due to lack of training from an injury. Not sure who i have to notify so if anyone has an idea who i contact that would be great.. Thanks!
Sorry to hear that Iain - unfortunately we can't refund entry fees but if you know someone who would like to take your number before the closing date I can swap the details over and they can pay you.
i'm in... looking forward to the best run/marshalled event in kent...should be good training for the Athens classic 11th nov... best i get some long runs in just for the mental preperation...
Hi everyone. I havent entered online yet, do you think it will be ok on the day? Im a seasoned runner, ex club runner, have always lived in the Thanet area and never done my home marathon so plan to do this years!! Training going so well and hoping for sub 3 hours 15 mins!!!!! So looking forward to this marathon, the course covers areas that i have run all my life . I did London 10 years ago but had alot of hamstring probs prior to the race, did first half in 1hr 30 but because of lack of distance training runs due to injuries, hit wall at 18 miles and had an awful last 8 miles, finished 3hr 40!! This time I am in a much better, stronger physical condition, so hoping for PB!!! Good luck everyone taking part!!!!
By the sounds of this thread, I'm probably going to be the last finisher, but come hell or high water, I will be finishing this marathon. Not long now ...

Keep me posted Iain - As it stands there is no race director for next year's race
Good luck with finding a new race director; this is my next marathon, as things stand, so I'd better try some training...

There's no hurry from my point of view as I've seen my name on the list (where is Captain Mainwaring when you need him?)...
That's 2 people who won't be getting numbers - insufficient postage - people please make sure you put enough stamps on!
Is there anyone else on here aiming for a time between 3:15 - 3:30?....
I wish ...
Not even in my dreams!
Hope everybody's training is going well?

You're welcome Redhead
My training is going well, I think.... I'm following a schedule from Pfitzinger & Douglas, and so far so good

Time for a bit of tapir madness then
I'll be marshalling in North Foreland estate up past the lighthouse so will see you all come by then. Best of luck to everyone on the day.
one of my club members is doing this any thing i can scare him with at tonights training session
Andy at the top of North Foreland can be quite scary! and if its sunny there will be some scary sights on the beaches!
