im in but only doing the half, ive done my 1 full of the year cant cope with more than that
hoping for a better time than last week very poor run even had to walk a bit and hate doing that so have brushed it under the carpet and starting again
see you all there
im the spikey haired nutter in the north derbyshire vest with angie on front and back
fantastic event - always has been - though because of recent sickness i 'm unsure wether were settling for 13 or 26 miles tomorrow
if people think this is a bad route on lap 2 then i suggest they either in wrong game, or leave marathon alone or find some physchological structure - or just thank themselves lucky they can do it - there are thousands who cannot, and i'm sure theyd love to change places in life
Mick OMG you're going to be there, i never knew, I will look forward to saying hi to you, at last a race where i'm running with you
Clairster I think i've met you before, didnt you do Gloucester?
See everyone tomorrow, i'm more worried about getting to the start on time tbh as just noticed that it said parking at the molineux which seems ages away, than the actual race itself!!!
Well in the end this was a circus due to the missing marker /marshall and half a mile extra I ran, costing me a PB and potential podium spot. What a crap thing for a supposed large event. Never again.

Did you do the full or half? There was some confusion over direction on both laps. The second lap we coudnt remember exactly where to go, having already made the same mistake on the frst lap. Not sure how much distance it added
I was on the half. For me it added 0.45 miles - I was behind two guys who took the wrong way, who I then overtook, then hit some relay people coming the other way askign which way it was - we ran on a bit then coming to a cul de sac before having to turn around and double back, then go up the hill.
The other major issue for me was the course being so twisty turney through housing estates (on open roads), the turns and strange switchbacks interupted your stride, and made it a lot like the London Olympic Marathon.
In fact I cannot think of any other city so dull as to showcase housing estates as their best bits. As I have said several times now, never again will I be going back there.
This was a terrible circuit. Nearly hit by a car and had to stop THREE times because cars weren't stopping at junctions to let runners by. Was going for sub 1:40 for the first time ended on a 1:47. Running over uneven grass (ankles!) and running through grim Wolverhampton suburbs dodging traffic. Spirit broken by 9 miles. Waste of time. Never again.
I was first lady so got a motorbike escort on the second lap, he stuck behind me though. The were a few times where I had to ask marshalls which way to go as they were just standing there!
Agree, lots of twists and turns and some long dragging hills but as I wasn't going for a pb it didn't matter too much, was certainly a good training run.
Apart from a few issues with the route and the slow people starting at the front and getting in the way I thougth it was pretty well organised.
Well done Hellen. I was the guy that finished one in front of you and gave you a smile as I passed you very near the end. I was wondering what the motorbike was for. A fantastic run. A very twisty course.
Hey Hellen, I think I saw you emerging from the bushes with motorbike escort, I was fourth lady and I could see you across the road on the switchback bit. Congratulations on your win.
I personally thought it was much better than I was expecting. Very friendly and well organised. The motorbike accompanied me around the only stretch without marshalls on the full marathon. As Mick says..be grateful we are able to do it-many cant. Saw you Mick and Phil...shouted over to you and you replied with your trademark..Easy! I did make me chuckle-good on you buddy.
i was dissappointed with the route all teh twisting and off road sections. poor marshallign standing around on their phones mostly. if it wasnt for the runners around me id have got lost.
i did run a pb 1:36 but with all the main roads and sights to be seen in wolverhampton the choice of route was poor. which i think contributed to a lack of public support along the route except for through billbrook and the last coupel of miles.
Great to see the increase if locals popping out to say well done this year, especially 2nd time around, means a lot at that point. Shame it went wrong at 7-8m but not organisers fault some1 moved signs. All in all good event as always
I thought is was pretty well organised and good value but water was a little sparse on the second lap, although the first lap marshalling error made mile 7 too long by 0.1mile for all the half marathon runners and i was trying to claw this back as i was trying to run a very controlled sub 3:15 for london 2014 GFA. The error was however corrected on lap 2 so the full was the correct distance but all half runner did 0.1mile too much (even without any other mistakes). I can only assume the extra dog leg into that cul-de-sac around the parked cars was intended for lap 2 not lap 1. Anyway, working too hard to recover the minute I was later gifted back and the undulation on the second half of the lap were just a little too tough and just over a minute slipped away for me on miles 22-24..... 3:15:59 on the garmin........ 3:16:00 chip time..... Chester or mablethorpe maybe in 5 weeks
Thanks luvsapb, goes to show even the fast boys can blow up or not show up. Usually 2.55 would only get me a top 10 at wolves. Can only beat who shows up I suppose.

I think you may of been with me and my team mate, we were pacing at 6 min miles and were in 4/5 place up until it all went wrong. We were both on for PB's and potential podium spots too, but after losing 2.40 off my time i completely gave up. I'll always do this half marathon as its my home town event but i'm ashamed about the way it was organised this year. Personally i think they need to completely redesign the whole course but if they don't do that then i hope they learn from their mistakes.
A few twist and turns wont kill ya, it's not always about running a PB, halfs are only speed works anyway! I agree it's not a fast course but it's the same for eveyone.

Hannah- the parking isnt to far from the start line only a 5 min walk.

Did any one see the Jamaica Bob Sled Team round wolverhampton today???

I never had any trouble with direction marshalls were pretty helpful, although the traffic was a bit of a nightmare.
Not as big a field as last year and not as much support, still ok for the money etc.
Very humid today and the wheels were coming off at 13 miles!!!!!
Stuck in there for a 3.30 though

we settled for the half in a sad for us 2:34
the paths got to me, lost control of the chair more than once
i have to sadly admit, it aint like the old course, we used to get around in about 1:56 - 2:10 - and around 4:25 - 4- 50
but never mind all that, i'm so glad i can still do it
support wise though, it used to be fabulas, rain or shine, but the supporters just were not there
But i am glad we did it, and we will be back
where may see finish pictures?
