It's such a shame that the role of housewife and mother has such little respect attached to it. As if bringing up kids is a piece of piss and doing it well doesn't require any brains.
When I first gave up work and people used to ask me what I did, I told them what I did pre-parenthood. It was as if there is no validity in raising children and I felt judged. Now I've come to the end of wiping snotty noses and reading bedtime stories, I accept that a (very long) career break has done my job prospects immense harm, but I don't think that is outweighed by the benefits I've had seeing my children grow up with me around for them.
Trying to explain to employers that I'm not thick and they should hire me is going to be interesting though. Watch this space
I'm a full-time bus driverbut always wanted to be a oprofessional singer, although I can't sing if my life depended on it! I'll stick to driving... much better at it!
My brother has a lovely voice when he gets going ... the traitor!

As for ebaying your child, can I do the same with my husband? Would anyone be brave enough to buy him?!
In 4 weeks time I will be unemployed for the first time in my life. It's my choice, I'm having a middle aged gap year. I think it's time for some down time for me
I can see myself taking a very different career path when I start looking for work again.
Sorry for the spelling mistakes in my previous posts & also for it coming up twice, I am a stickler for correct spelling etc but am having trouble with my internet connection so have logged my details into my husband's computer, with his permission, & the net works faster and better on here! .
Best of luck to you Tickled Pink on your gap and future marriage, I hope you have a great life in front of you!
I'm a carpenter, very lucky to love what I do, and look forward to going to work every day, no two days are the same, one week, I'll be doing a hand cut roof, another, fitting a kitchen, another making bespoke furniture. I love the satisfaction of looking at a completed job, knowing not many people could have done it better.

After 12 years in the Army 6 of which were in Bomb Disposal, I am now a IT manager. Not as exciting and the money is far better.
Marginally less chance of having your ass blown off though Adrian?
£5.00, my chimneys need sweeping before winter.

Run an injury / rehabilitation clinic. Part time train dogs.
Feral,
are the two tasks related?
No. Clinic is for hoomans. One day I'd like to re-train and treat dogs.. They're much more straightforward than people!

Reaction has mostly been positive although some people think I will be bored and missing the streses of my job by Easter.
I am moving to the other end of the country and getting married so the opportunity kind of presented itself and I thought why not?
