Called by the Expo this afternoon, but there was nothing to collect - someone must have got there before me.
BUT - I have the helium. So unless one of my neighbours saw me taking delivery of a large gas canister and phoned Special Branch, we should have balloons on Sunday .
So jealous, Id love to watch a marathon but this year im running it. Where will all you guys be?
My story is I was a chubby lad, lost 3 stone few years ago to run 2011 London, finished it in slow time due to fellow runner collapsing halfway, then I did new york, again slow time due to not being fit and jet lag etc, then last year I got super fit, lightest ive ever been and was blitzing times, was hoping for under 4 hours. Half way my kidneys started bleeding, really bad, so walked last 6 miles, I was heartbroken. I then had full ACL knee reconstruction 3 weeks later and only just finished rehab November before starting training for this, ive lost 2 stone again and my times are good im hoping for under 4 hours 30. Any support is great, im running for round table childrens wish.
Hi Mark, we will be at Mudchute at Mile 17. As you come out of the quiet section that is the Isle of Dogs you go up a small incline that feels like a hill to tired legs. We will be on the right immediatly after the water station and before the zebra crossing. Look out for the blue and yellow balloons.
Do you want any specific support other than a cheer and a few jelly babies? If so then pop along to the thread for Group 4 and tell them that I sent you. Hurry up though as we are running out of time
Mark, there's a thread for Group 4 and you can tell us your runners number, what you'll be wearing, when you think you will get to the support point at Mile 17 and anything you need, apart from jelly babies or Jaffa cakes.
To the others, I am late in the game but would be happy for support at mile 17 only if you guys can stick around for that long. I've PMed my details to Sister Bad Habit. My goal this year is to try to finish blister free and faster than last year. Goal time hopefully next year vs. "to finish" ho hum... Last year I had massive blisters by mile 9 last year, no idea how I managed! This year I have different trainers and socks and hopefully it won't be so hot... Still get warm and fuzzy when I think of the Compeed given to me at mile 17, thank you! I have my own this year but hopefully won't need. I didn't drop off anything at the expo alas but happy with Jelly Belly Jelly Beans (alas I can't eat the babies) and maybe a can of Red Bull, but just a wave might do too.
All the support groups are at the same point. Each group has a number of runners assigned to it that it supports and will have a banner/balloon with its group number on it, so it's obvious to the runners where their support is.
Hi Zaftig, SBH has had to pull out. Can you join Group 5 and send your details to XFR Bear instead? I've put Red Bull in my box of things to bring down with me
As others have said, all groups are at Mile 17. We just split it up as it is easier for us if we only have 15 runners to look out for each rather than everyone trying to look for everybody. Each group had 2-3 dedicated supports to look after their runners, plus there will be additional supporters on the day to help out with miscellaneous duties and to provide cheers.
Hi SuperCaz, I will send all details to XFR, thank you for the Red Bull, that's so kind. It gives me wings, or I can hope it can can't I hah hah! I hall have Jelly Belly Jelly Beans with me so that's covered.
sorry supercaz just seen your question, yest still running , well, not literally you know, but this time next week I probably will still be trying to finish
I went yesterday to do a pickup but nothing there.... will be back again this afternoon; it looked pretty busy yesterday evening so presumably some of our runners have been by now.
Was at the expo yesterday morning. I left a box of fondant fancies for mile 17. Contrary to what I wrote on the note I expect to be there 2.45-3 hours. So excited now!!!!!!
on the right just before the crossing (level with the zig zags). The blue boards on the left won't be there. Here's the view from a bit further back - click on the road and you can then use the up arrow key to move forward

Will bring a knife or two down- sounds good doesn't it
Have just put a couple of balls of twine in my bag so I'll leave them at the expo for you.

The groups are in number order with 1 first. I know that seems obvious but every year someone says "I could see groups 2 and 4 but couldn't find 3!"
Am preparing sign for group 3 even as we speak - bilious yellow and plan to decorate with dangling bears and a womble.
I'm about to start on mine. Not sure what colours to use yet.
Good luck everyone running on Sunday - hope you have a fantastic day
