going to be watching channel 4 tomorrow and looking to see how tough the bike leg is, will probalbly get a better idea by asking on here and in person though.
I looked for results from last year and came upon a table of median times for all the age groups. As is the case with these things the times were fairly similar across the board from pro's to my aged groupers. Unable to find where the people at the blunt end of the field came and how main miss the cut, anyway Outlaw first then maybe plan a bit for next year
The coverage makes it look a great race seems like even most of the pros were on road bikes so I reckon a bit of a mix of road bike 101/50 race wheels shortly clip on tri bars and a decent bail out gear will be my choice I think I would loose a lot of time on the climb and descent on my TT bike what do those that have done it think?
Oh dear... the old tt/roadie question I can see this being an expensive race after buying a tt last year and now wanting a new roadie... this just gives an excuse to spend another 2k!!!
It would be my bike's 5th (if I weren't holding Meldy's coat). I feel like the cheap relative. Maybe that's the excuse I need to buy a new one. Plus I've got a birthday with a zero next year.
Maybe I'll just have a little browse online, see what's around...

I wouldn't spend to much if you're trading it in for a bus pass in 5 years...

What's the plan around hotels? is there a pirate place for the weekend? Does it have a bar?
GB - have a look here.
And rather surprised you needed to ask about the bar!!!
RBM - I will definitely be taking the road bike and I'm not even gonna bother with bars on it too be honest!
I might not even take the bike
Are you sure your broomstick will be accepted ?

Gosh. This will be Percy's 3rd Ironman. No wonder people say tri is expensive if you buy a new bike everytime!

Personally I think a road bike with clip ons is the best solution.
