If you are lucky, it will be a non wettie swim, then you can kick ass. And if that is the case, I want to see the multiple lesions of jelly fish stings around your neck on FB!
Just sorry I haven't been able to get you trained up on the bike for it. I really wanted to, but as you know, it's not been a good year sportwise.
Funny, it's just reminded me how me 'n Coach Bassos killed off a sixty six quid Chinese meal the day after IMF in 2008, and I wasn't even racing. That was good eating.
Barlos interesting i was trying to decide road or TT and have gone the other way for the tri bike option with shallow 50mm clinchers looking at you tube coverage lots of peeps on tri bikes and a lot of the course after the big climbs and descents looks like long sweepers and just undulating?
Sooooooo what do those that have done this previously recommend?
I will also be on the tri bike. Have spoken to quite a few who have done this and all suggested tri bike, and that it's the downhills which have a bigger impact than the uphills when deciding which bike
I'll be on my TT this time. If you're comfortable riding your TT, i dont think the climbing is a reason not to take it.
I dont have tubs, but I know of at least one other person who used tubs last times we were there. I'd tell you who it was, but it would mean adding him to a list....
I think I may have to change my rear cassette, buying the bike pre-Florida I kinda got a bit carried away and didn't think ahead, its a double with 11-23 on the back, that said ive crawled up the hills at Roth, Germany, Switzerland & Regensburg on it.
Anyone any advice on how the climbs as France compare, longer and harder im guessing?
Old memory but I THINK racers last time included Doozer, Flyaway, LP, Kanga, Bassy, Crashie, Squishy, Meldy, Mon, Pebble, GOM, Cougie, Calf, Ditchy, Supporters included Dusty, FB, Barlos (or was the plane a day late?), various other halves notably the Major.
Plus the ones I missed.
Note that these merry few drained a bar dry in a very short space of time.
DB, ah yes 2008, the failed attempt to combine a stag weekend in Magaluf and stop off at Nice on the way back. Only foiled at the last minute by the schoolboy error of being so drunk I forgot about the 10am flight and having left the foam BCM foam party at 6am waking up in time was never going to happen.

I remember that weekend well!! My first proper experience of the Ship of Fools!!
I ran a 12/27 on a compact last time on a road bike, this year it'll be a 12/28 on a 'professional' compact as they call them and the road bike. Just wondering how deep the wheels should be

Did Wales on my tri bike with no problem and i get the feeling that course is a bit more twisty than France so TT it is
Crashie used a road bike. Trying to think who else was there? GOM?

Did I read so somewhere that I need proof I'm alive or similar to take part?
Just fitted a compact chainset to my TT bike.... so have to use it now, as its cost too much to leave at home!

Stick a 11-28 on it and youll be fine. If your using girls gears (a compact) a 26 on back should be fine.

I think a 12-27 should do it, how hard can it be?

Is it still best to have a white bike?
Hope not
