I was sent a excel packing list that I OCD over highlighting in different colours for packed, still to pack, still to buy ETC, your welcome to have a copy just send me a PM.I plan to start this OCDness tonight.
I've been printing run maps from map my run that has the street names on, bike routes for the Tenby bits, for the supporting crew today with expected times.
One of the parents at my sons school works for Ironman Europe and I just ran into her on the school run, she spoke to Gordon Ramsay on Friday, he's devastated apparently and is genuinely injured. They're also a bit peeved at the very low pro turnout this year, way down on last year. One factor is Challenge Weymouth have offered a bigger purse than IMW.
I am massively unprepared as usual ( actually much worse than usual ) .. On a more positive note though i decided i had better see how my whoopy knee would cope with a hill or two and the short but sharp test ride on Sunday went better than expected . No long rides in months and i think its unlikely the injury will let me go full distance on the bike , but do at least feel like its worth starting now.
All i need to do now is find where my race stuff is and hope i washed it after lanza ?, check i can still get in the wetsuit , see if i have enough gels that havent gone out of date , fix the clicky pedal , find last years list of things to pack .
Since I got into work at 8.30am I have been making lists and feel a lot more organised now. Unfortunately I have got no actual work done so I need to come up with some story to my boss as to why I am behind, but it's all about prioritising isn't it!!! Short brick session tonight, then putting my newly made lists into action and packing up my dummy race bags. Last swim tomorrow morning, and bike check tomorrow after work which is making me nervous. I have also made a to-do list for T1 and T2 thanks to Batty Hattie - Great Idea as I am bound to get confused!!!
well the transition tents and bike racking area is being erected as we speak, made my tummy go all wobbly watching them! I have made my list of things to pack, changed my mind a couple of times on what to wear and then changed it back again! stocked up on gels and chocolate briosch (yum), got the ironman flag to put up at home, already had bike serviced but will give it a good clean and ready to rock
I have been reading this thread for a few weeks and reading all your comments has some what eased my nerves over doing my first Ironman on Sunday! I am still absolutely bricking it but not as much as i once was.
I am planning on doing the practise swims on Friday and Saturday morning and would be great to meet any of you guys that are also doing them and also give me a chance to absorb some of your Ironman Wisdom.
Don't listen to me WesP, I just found myself bored at work, next thing I knew I'm on the Ironman.com website and entering another bloody race in 2015. Schoolboy error.
It was only whilst checking through old emails last night I realised I entered this race on 15th September last year. Almost a year to prepare, and still leaving things to the last minute, as usual
I just realised that there hasn't been the customary what cassette size to use debate this year, but i think FinalRV has it cracked with a 12-66 . Hope that's with a triple as well ?
I'm still undecided whether to stick with my compressport tri shorts for the bike, or put my skins bibshorts on over. My worry is compression bib shorts over compression tri shorts might be a bit much. I did the Eirias Middle+ Tri in the tri shorts (bike leg 66 miles), but that is the max mileage I've done in them. Need to decide before Sunday as i don't want it playing on my mind during the swim!
My worst case scenario 15 mph average plan and some encouraging words from my sponsor Duck Tape. Doubles as a rip repair in a tyre should it be needed.

Don't forget ID for registration either
Good call, and £5 for the Race Day Licence
Don't forget to collect your bike cover from the PowerBar stand in the Expo before you rack
Don't forget sun tan lotion!
Off at a slight tangent.

I've had a 12:66 installed on the rear, needed to join 2 chains together to make it work and reprogram the Di2.
going to ride Wednesday and Thursday and probably Friday as the Tour de Britain passes very near home on Friday.
