For 2 day yes you can leave a bag with the bike at Cawdor when you first take it there, ready for the morn, no need to carry anything on first run. What you will really want to know is what to with all your bike stuff on day 2 when you set off after the bike for 15 mile run/hike! If you have your own bike you are allowed a small bag to put this stuff in attached to your bike. If you have a hire bike these people are expected to run with their helmet, shoes, etc (I saw this)! So I had a drawstring bag with me & was able to find a kind chap who let me attach this to his bike, to collect at finish.
Hello again, a couple more potentially stupid questions - do people run with their backpack for the first run section or just pick it up at first transition? (I'm doing one day)
Also - what do people pack in their first aid kit?!
I did the 2 day last year and am doing it again this year with my wife. I ran with my backpack for the first run section just as a precaution. If you are doing the 1 day you will need to pack all your gear in the bag that you leave with your bike in transition as well as your hydration pack. With the weather as forecast that will be fine but if it does rain you will either have no waterproofs to run in or 2 sets when you arrive at your bike. Plus you would need to check that the bag left at transition was absolutely weatherproof.
I really don't think that a 2Kg pack would knock more than a minute off your run time TBH. See http://www.ianwinstanley.com/?p=1 for my report.
Yes that was the case but the most recent Event Info says
"Full Body Cover: We have not asked that you carry or wear this for Day 1. However, if there is inclement weather on the day, this is strongly recommended."
A few people made inquiries this year, 2016, but I assume ended up making other arrangements. We couldn't ship the bikes to them.
I looked at the event and it seemed to me better suited to a road bike and a MTB. Logistics of it all looked like madness... Assume you all know what you're doing....

My first aid kit was a few plasters, some bandages, safety pins, antiseptic wipes, latex gloves. Just the basics.
Hi Cougie

much difference. Just read the updated Event Info which also seems
to answer the questions, phew. arg, not long to go now!!
I'm also doing the one day, hope to see you guys about.
Thanks for all the tips and good luck to all that's taking part!!!
I came 16th female which I'm very pleased about.
Thanks for the pre event advice
Found mountain bike stage v tough, should have put knobblies on my cross bike for day 2.
Thank god for the weather, I can't imagine the misery of doing that course in the wet!
How anyone can do that in one day is beyond me, you are superhuman!
My highlight was seeing the seals in the last loch. Oh and the shower. And the meal after.
Not a breath of wind on day 1.
Would be hell if wet underfoot...
I think the run/ trek at the end is the best bit. But that last climb was awful!
Just for the record cyclocross bikes are available to rent in Stafford.
