I'd assumed I hadn't made it, but it seems there's still a chance. Trepidation is back again now, as I feel like I'm running like a sack of spuds at the moment. After all year building towards October (Great Scottish, Oxford Half and Great South Runs) my head and form seem to have gone out of the window. About to start prepping for Bath Half so hopefully starting from scratch will restore the Mojo! An invite to Bootcamp might do the trick as well!!
I've gone for the sub 4 category, do you think they'll look at my VLM 2014 time of 4:55 and dismiss me.
I was teaching at the time and survived on my long run and one run with a Beginners group I help with. I've always struggled to get too much under the hour for 10Ks but did 52:57 on Sunday - amazing what a few months consistant training can do!
I am actually looking forward to reading about the process if I am not selected.
I have decided I am definitely going to do my first marathon in the spring regardless now after entering this competition. Got the fire in my belly now.
Thanks AndyRuns! Sounds like a potentially awkward conversation, but one that I hope you have to have
I've booked the day off for Christmas shopping in case I don't get the call - I felt that with my luck if I didn't book it off I'd get selected and wouldn't be able to make bootcamp, so fingers crossed I get that call after taking the day off!
I've been checking my phone and emails religiously at lunch and after work - they like to keep us feeling tense!!
See one of the people on twitter that have got through to bootcamp have been a RW London marathon pacer twice before, they must like him! Not that I'm saying there's been any favouritism or anything
oh well... nerves are starting afresh now, fingers crossed some people from on here at least get to the track day, it does seem good fun.
I had a cunning plan for if I get to the track day, take loads of Krispy Kreme doughnuts and feed them to all the others, especially the other sub 4:30 competitors *blush*
Booktruck I love the lemon meringue Krispy Kreme's, please make sure you bring a couple of them with you Also the original glaze and cookie crunch and caramel crunch and... looking forward to bootcamp even more now. Please RW call me and Booktrunk today!
Carl If it goes badly, you can join me in my #asics252 after my typo the other day, we have to buy our own shoes, asics of course!! and find a marathon where we can just skip a mile somewhere along the course, but apart from that i'm sure you will get the same buzz
It seems they're working their way through the categories. I got the call yesterday afternoon for the sub-3 category
I'm the chap that AndyRuns mentioned - I've been part of the RW London Marathon pace team for the last 2 years running sub-3:30 (3:29:12 and 3:29:18) and I've run 99 marathons (my 100th is tomorrow!), the Brathay 10 in 10, multi day ultra marathons and so on and my marathon PB is 3:08 at Windermere last year. I've never really focused on a single race and trained to do my very best time so Sub-3 is a big step for me and this would be a wonderful opportunity!
Anyway, all the best to everyone and I look forward to seeing some of you next Friday in Birmingham.

There have been some phone calls already? Blimey, nail biting!
Hang in there folks, it may take a day or two. Wish you all the very best of luck.
Shady, Clive - great to see you here, hope all is well with you both!

I'm in!!! Clearly I didn't put them off last year.
Fingers crossed to everyone else, am sure they are working their way through the calls so hang in there.
Malcs, I hear you'll be there at Bootcamp ..great stuff!
Congrats Ruffles
Ruffles - that's brilliant! I know someone else who'll be there from last year too. Are you in for the 3:30 category?
booktrunk - eek, I'm still hoping for you!
I will indeed be there - but I'm not in the competition though...just in case there was any doubt
Lots of excitement on twitter but I think it's all you fast running snakes they are calling first hoping they get to us slow plodders later
Congrats Ruffles.
Phone was happily off and charging. Had a quick peek at the forum. Very quickly the phone is back on! Quiet as a mouse. . .
I've got through to bootcamp! Super excited!
Just turned the volume up on my phone just in case I get a call. But not expecting it if I am being honest.
yahh
Malcs -yep in 3.30 cat. Super scary as that will be a tough goal but so excited that RW think I have a chance of cracking it.
Well done to everyone that has got through and fingers crossed to everyone else.

Ruffles - I've said it before, you definitely can do it. Half the battle is believing.
Moustachioz - congratulations, you're in for a treat!
Carl - it does look like the 3:30 calls are coming in. Don't give up hope yet though.
booktrunk - you could be right about them working through the categories. Still got my fingers crossed for you.
my phones not even so much as beeped, and if they started the 3:30 cat calls. it should be ringing!
Looks like I'll have to buy my own Krispy Kreme doughnuts Still hope you all enjoy the ones booktrunk brings you when she gets her call.
Well done Ruffles and Moustachioz! Wish I could say I had heard anything...
