who cares. She hasn't got the official record, she tried her best, the percentage here or there is irrelevant. a DNF is a DNF (She did finish and get her deserved medal) but i meant with regards to the Record
The bonkers thing is that if she hadn't done the 50 miles on the treadmill then she may well have been able to walk round and get her record. Why on earth did she scupper her chances?
I find it funny that the only photos of her in the race where she has high heels on she's talking to the BBC (or some film crew). The guy probably had to ask her to put them on while they did their interview. I also find it rubbish when she says she wore them on and off during the race. Surely you would keep wearing them till you can't wear them any longer, by which time you're not going to be walking in your comfy shoes while still aching and then going 'Ok, lets get the heels back out again for another 5k. Guarantee you once she changed shoes, the only time she put them back on again was when she was being interviewed by the Beeb.
and when she crossed the finish for everyone to see.
No one at the RW support at mile 16 3/4 saw her 'run' past in stilettos. We were standing in the road at that stage, I'm sure one of us would have spotted her.
To be honest I think what's happened is that her feet have got more and more shredded as she's done the training and she's proper f*cked them doing that treadmill walk, the the point where, even had she walked the whole way in proper trainers, she would have struggled. Serious blisters take ages to heal properly.
I think she's probably known for a long time that she had no chance but what do you do when you've had all that publicity? At the same time she's still at only 52% of the Asthma UK fundraising target she set so she can't really be upfront about how much of it she actually managed in the heels or she's never going to reach it.
It seems a trifling amount of money for so much pain
Once your feet have swollen and you take the heels off....it would be so hard to get them back on and walk in them....every time she says she took them off it would be harder again to get them back on.....
She said on the One Show last night that she had to seek medical assistance at about 7 miles, said something about her feet being in a serious way. She did also then put her bare feet into a foot spa on the programme - only fleeting look at her feet, but blackened large toenails only, couldn't see anything more (wish my feet looked that good), and was prancing around outside studio in a pair of trainers.
There are actually photos of her feet after her treadmill walk on her own website. They aren't pretty - huge lumps of skin underneath them from really deep blisters by the looks if it.
She is happy.. She got the attention she craved and she knows what she ran and what she didn't... The camera pictures were just unfortunate as she wore them all the rest of the time...which mean she did a really fast walk with really sore feet....something not many other people can achieve apparently
I asked her on her Facebook page how far she 'actually' ran in the heels as the majority of photos show her in flat shoes.....I've got a lot of hate. Far question I thought.
Not sure if it's the same page but further down the one I looked at was her last training run on MapMyRun - 21 miles in 4.10 Which should have made the world record a breeze - unless, of course, she ran it in trainers??
Comments
she said she wore them for over twenty miles..........as most of the picture show her in comfy shoes I find that hard to believe.........
the golden rule with sore feet is you dont take them off as you will never get them back on again........
i think she is exaggerating with her on off story and the 20 miles

all v irritating as she was given a green start place as she was an official GWR attempt......
She has noted she didn't get the record on Twitter. I think her tweet from this morning congratulating records holders doesn't claim she's got one.
I don't think she's trying to deceive anyone here.
She's not corrected other people's tweets which say she 'ran' it 'in heels'...
No photos of her in heels after Cutty Sark.
Sheis deceiving as she is making out she nearly did it...that she managed over 20 miles in heels...
From the evidence that isn't true

Unless we are all blind.
Then she sped up before slowing down again later.
I think her heels didn't make it much past 15k.
She made a rod for her own back basically.

Couldn't see them last night sorry, must have had some good attention from the medics at the marathon.
It'll all soon be forgotten. Someone will attempt it next year in heels whilst simultaneously carrying a fridge and bouncing two basketballs.
And she's put out a challenge!
Her with the heels I mean
I wonder how many copies of the soft porn calendar she's sold ?

(When are you doing a glamour calendar Seren ? )
