Vit 2016 - Pirate takeover?

I was driving past Rutland Water earlier, and with the sun sparkling on the water, my thoughts turned to the Vitruvian.
Over the years, this has been a pirate favourite, but seems to have slowly faded a little on the list of 'big events'...
And that led me to thinking... how about we make the pirate attendance at the Vit next year a real biggun... take over the campsite, and turn it into one big pirate party!... I reckon that with some enthusiasm, we could get 100 pirates along... that'd be a bit special!... but would need some advance planning - hence the post now. Also, if the PSOF champs are either Lanza or Mallorca next year, it fits nicely into the calendar.
Whaddya think?

It would fit nicely that's true .... I think we have supported a lot of events over the years like The Vit and Bala and to an extent The Big Woody in the early days and the triple/double/stupid distance and may be its natural for interest to ebb and fade
that said, The Vit is a good race but the camp site leaves a lot to be desired these days IMO!
We went last year...it was my least favourite triathlon ever... I'll won't be going bacvk

Been thinking about this a bit more, having recently been on the receiving end of suggestions that other people should be given an opportunity to organise some things.
I cant help thinking that if someone sticks their head up, its one thing to express an opinion but to immediately misdirected the thread with irrelevant banter isnt very fair. Its hardly going to encourage other people to support the suggestion or volunteer their own ideas.

On the other hand Barlos, if you can't cope with having the piss taken out of you a little, or seeing some wierd shit on a thread that you don't even understand, then you're not going to make much of a 'pirate'!
I take your point, but I love the fact that there aren't many forums where you can make a suggestion, or raise a question, and within 5 posts, you've reached 'Boobs'
What a fantastic idea Magna Carter. It would be great to see a big pirate contingent at The Vit again next year.

Whilst we are on the subject of events (which we were at the beginning) I do think The Vit is well placed for either a late season IM or an end of season jolly whichever way, but also the Club Relays we have been promising to do for years!
I like the idea of the relays.
We've always said we like the idea but have never done anything about it
The issue I think is that its Bank Holiday weekend so that can impact on families - at least we know the camp site is tried and tested !
A few years back we did The Cow Man (middle distance in MK) and that was quite good too but the campsite was literally jsut a field and the swim was in a lilly pond
If it Mallorca, an shorter race, earlier in the year might work for some.....Outlaw half always seems popular
Last year I was going to suggest the Cotswold Classic as a potential end of year race, but it clashed with Nicko's Vit so I kept quiet
But it could still be a possibility for 2016?

Vitruvian/Cotswold/Cowman they are all at a similar time I think and the relays are August Bank Holiday
