Running, Tottenham Hotspur supporter, TV, movies, videos (yes, I'm a square eyes), reading, tennis sometimes, drinking, eating, internet and I am going to buy a mountain bike this week - so I will soon list mountain biking as a hobby too!
Quıltıng, embroidery, cooking. Had to give my oilpainting, it took up too much time. Not the actual painting but the ladies in my class kept on inviting me for tea. Very difficult to say no, so that was another afternoon a week wasted for me.
Well, we are all a busy bunch! I see that football, reading and cooking seem to be a very common and even a bit of knitting! When I'm not entertaining the kids and when I can't get to see Gillingham, I guess reading is my main thing so the book thread of a few days ago was very interesting for the recommendations!
in no partucular order red wine, real ale, country pubs with straw on the floor, gin, coitreau, martini. But seriously music, books, LOTR, two year old, sport, exotic locations, red wine and as of late internet abuse
Right at the moment I'm very into my running because I am desperately trying to avoid the post-GNR slump I have fallen foul of in previous years! But apart from that which I do on my own, my other passion is people - working with them (I'm in Human Resources), chatting with them (I'm a huge lover of gossip)and partying with them (I love a drink). Hence, my attraction to the Forum I guess...
Running, cycling, swimming, gym, reading, a bit of DIY/gardening, cooking (or at least trying to make an edible meal out of the food that is good for training), horseriding (although not been for a while)more reading.
Internet abuse probably increases the possibility that I might have lots more time for my hobbies in future...............
Rugby (watching only now I have retired from playing); drinking (goes with the rugby); skiing (once a year); scuba diving (where the water is warm); reading (at least a book a week)and collapsing in front of the tele on a Sunday afternoon!!
Cricket (Caldy CC in particular) Chess (though long retired from competitive play) Table tennis (ditto) Everton FC TV sport (rugby, football) my own distinctinve taste in popular music local (& to a lesser extent, world) history
could go on & include stuff I dabble with from time to time, but I think that's enough...
Used to climb (a lot) run (a bit), road bike (a lot) drink beer (a lot) go to the theatre (a lot), and read (a bit).
But moving to 60 km south of the Arctic cirlce does affect your hobbies. So now I hardly ever climb (lack of non-crumbly rock - but went out yesterday for a bit of bouldering and can hardly move my arms today!), run loads (40 miles+ a week - oh the joys of working freelance), hardly ever go out on my road bike (lack of decent roads), brew our own beer instead of drinking at pubs - at a fiver a pint here, something of a necessity - and read lots. Also spend an extrraordinary amount of time keeping in touch with friends via email and occasionally MS Netmeeting.
Some things don´t change though - still spend hours each week with friends, talking and drinking and eating!
I haven´t yet been to the theatre here yet but I´m going to see Hamlet - in Icelandic - in a few weeks time. Time to re-read the play, I think!
Gary Fatbloke - you're not sad. Trains are BRILL! I can't wait till my son (currently aged 8) is old enough to start doing Hornby for real rather than the little Track-Mat layouts he has at the moment. Then he can go round all the exhibitions and swap lists of facts with lots of nice autistic people like himself...
Although I like steam railways and model railways, I don't like making real journeys by train much nowadays.
Mike - I can't believe you're an Everton supporter (how can someone go through life with that much disappointment?).
Scary, but true
I used to play chess both for the school and university (but had to give it up...when I discovered drinking). Also one-third of my degree was history (my own particular interest was industrial revolution).
Martin, I'm not alone on this forum as a Blue viz: Gavo Whoever said chess and drinking were incompatible?? We used to organise pint-a-point blitz tournaments at university - 10 minutes each for the game, loser buys the winner a pint, which has to be consumed in the 5 minutes before the next round starts....
Surfing Internet especially film sites Surfing on boards rather than mouse. Polzeath 2/3 times a year Films Sci fi fantasy specially. Very much looking forward to 2 towers Reading same as above Yoga Cooking and eating Laughing at Jumpets as VVV cute.
hmmm, guess I join the sad company. I like violins, making them and playing them. I'm better at making them than playing then. Still, I can be found in back desks of viola section of local unauditioned orchestra. Says it all, dunnit?
And I like sailing Mirror dinghies in small ditches and duckponds - not many waves.
And then I like to try and learn Chinese. Everybody should try and do something impossible once in a while.
My favourite pastime, apart from running, is watching videos...especially science fiction...Star trek is my favourite, and I have lots . I would love to swap with anyone..it would save me countless hours scouring the auctions for them...please e-mail me if you are interested.
Mike S you are never on your own as a Toffee Man, Everton supporters stay thru thick and thin. Our is a Blue House, my other half is a season ticket holder, we have an understanding on a Saturday (and I know of a few men who are very jealous of this) I drop him off at the Black Lion where he meets his Brother and they bond, I go into town and spend, I pick him up after the game, everyone's happy.

Very fun to be on an electronic target range and blowing away those Figure 11s with live ammunition as they pop up 200 metres away.
Only downside: cleaning the rifle afterwards! At least after running you only have to clean yourself (and your clothes)!
Oh and running....

Beyond running fast, that is.
Oh well.
Surely getting drunk would be a slow process then?
Anyone ever tried Strip Scrabble?
Apart from that it's Internet (this site a lot at the moment) and work.
Pretty sad really
