I'm only an hour away from that lake as well.. Shmunkee, can you please let me know too? I usually swim at Queensford Lake, but would be nice to mix it up a bit!
If there are a few pirateys in the area perhaps we could have a couple cycles too
Not quite into the swing yet, the constant rain and now ice has put me off the great outdoors. A lot of this last two weeks has been on the treadmill and turbo.
It's currently windy and gloomy but I am going outdoors for my LSR - after the delivery man has been this morning.
I started a new coached swim session in the pool last night, slowest of the slow as per usual
Was going allright, until man flu appeared onThursday. Distance wise upto a slow 10 miles run, longest swim ever last week of 2.5 km swim(100 lengths) very very slow Bike just doing some turbo sessions 1.5 hrs long.
Everything going well so far. With the exception of a calf strain which keeps appearing. How well I recover from IM Lanza will be the key for this. If all else fails I may just turn up and drink beer.
Yup, ticking over. Nothing too structured at the moment - that'll come when the weather is a bit more reliable. Today was 90mins turbo and a 20 min brick (treadmill) run.
taken an additional rest day today..... weather was a bit rubbish, and I have realised that I am of an age where I can't just keep training every day nowadays for weeks on end!
lets be honest.... its all prep for an Ironman on my 100th birthday
Managed three hours on the road yesterday. Was a fair bit of snow but if you kept away from the little lanes it was ok. Two thick pairs of socks and overshoes didn't keep the feeling in my toes but Rapha's winter jersey and tights worked well (from the outlet, sorry archive store, I'm not made of money). It was very slow though, unusually so, not sure if the 90 mins run Saturday caught up with me but it was like cycling with the brakes rubbing.
Try just one pair of socks (in case you're cutting of the circulation in your feet with lots of socks) and two pairs of overshoes. I found that to be a more successful solution.
That's a good idea - 2 pair of overshoes. Unfortunately I've stuffed my back up,. Thought won't cycle on the roads and risk falling because of black ice, so went to put the turbo down. and twisted my back awkwardly. Ironic. Should have risked the roads. Very frustrating. 3 days later and still stiff and sore
R2N (if I may customarily shorten) ..suffering from a dodgy back as I do, if you have a gym membership try the exercise or spin bikes as you can sit more upright on these and at least you can work the legs
Having to make use of gym membership - turbo/spin bikes, pool & dreadmill. Wether being a pain and from experience I really don't function well in the cold and takes days for muscle to recover / thaw out. Bring on spring time.
Another week gone, disaster of a training week. Chest infection so just done a couple of small runs and turbo sessions no swimming. Hoping to be back into the swing very soon.
I agree Ghost, im trying to get in the training but have another case of gout so no running this week which is annoying as was just getting back into it.
Getting abit bored of the turbo now so if there's no ice on the weekend ill be venturing outside for a cycle.

Hello everyone. I'm in for Outlaw this year - my first IM distance. Hoping to grab tips and experience from people on here.
Will look back and see if I can spot people I've met or raced with as I've not been on this forum for a while.
Is everyone into the swing yet?
Couple of reasonable weeks completed here just a 2 hour turbo session to complete the week.

yeah... I really look forward to the first open water swim of the season, when the water temperature is 12 degrees!
I love the cold weather.
Proper running for Outlaw starts in about a month, just ticking over at the moment.
Cotswolds know how you feel, never mind there is loads of time for training!!!
Erm. I haven't quite got myself into 'absolute' training mode yet - injury, tiredness (it can kill) and CBAism prevail.
I'm thinking a 20 week training plan might be the way to go (are we there yet?).

Eminem run this morning (8 mile) and a cracking day for it too, zero degrees and blue sky.
WOW, wish i had places like that to run on my door step.
I am very lucky, but running over the moor is less attractive in 20mph winds with horizontal sleet !
Looks lush Nursey
Red wine lol. Had my managers xmas party and too much to drink. T total now for the next few months.
My new year resolution is start the race sober. That's as far as limiting the red wine goes.
