What a diverse crowd we are - great granddads clocking up the miles
Iron persons ironing away
and everything in between
I have some news of my own - my car was due for a service today - I put the bike on the rack and cycled home, then walked/trotted back to get it this afternoon (ok lots more walking than trotting, but starting again again has to start somewhere right? )
In other news, it’s been confirmed that I’ve been selected to do a sky dive - it’ll be sometime in July - either the 5th or the 11th depending on wether or not the weather is kind! Apparently, I’m going to be rewriting my will at 5,000 feet then jumping out of the plane! It’s to do with a charity thing, I’ll be leaving a small legacy to my chosen charity. There is a possibility that it’ll be televised in the autumn. They did it last year and had a 94 year old doing an Iron man - and other grey pride people doing similar extreme stuff.
If you hear reports of an earthquake in Oxfordshire in July, that’ll be me landing. The upside is, I get to cuddle a hunk for the whole of the 5,000 feet
Gosh, lots going on over the weekend! Well done everyone.
Dragon, that sounds truly terrifying!! If you don't mind, I will just find a hunk to cuddle on terra firma
Glad that Chuggy and Larry enjoyed their birthdays.
Chuggy, SM is usually kept occupied by The Friend - but TF is not speaking to SM again at the moment so she wants me to fill the gap. TF is also taking 3rd friend out all day a lot, something she has never done before and it is hard not to believe that it is not done solely to make SM feel bad! Perhaps I will give her your number Yumms...
We seem to have missed the high temps that some peeps have had. We also missed the thunderstorms, so that is a positive! The forecast is that the next few days are going to be much cooler. It seems that the promises of a hot May and June were somewhat erroneous
Deffo our first sky diving WAISTer and setting the bar high for future WAISTer exploits
Pippi I've always loved watching the water jet men......seen some spectacular swooping and diving from them and also a couple of giant splats and face plants
Hope you had all you could wish for on your birthday Larry
Hi Sluggy I may be speaking out of turn but to me it does appear that TF is anything but a decent F.......
Cycled home the long way this evening and the wind was so strong off the sea that I was actually being blown to a stand still On the plus side I reckon that makes my 28 miles count for a bit more due to the sheer effort involved
What's worse than being wide awake at 0230 when not working shifts?
Being awake at 0230 because a dog woke you up, you went downstairs and before your night vision and night nose could kick in you stepped in a turd.............
...........and by the time you've cleaned it up, put said dogs out and let them back in again and cleaned your foot you're wide awake and your beloved who shouldhave put the dogs out earlier is still snoring away.............
Oh well - at least I got my dad's birthday card ordered and on it's way to France!!!
well went out to see if my legs still work after Sundays climbing and they were still a bit on the stiff side this morning. Ended up doing 5k and managed the first 3.75k with no walk breaks so pleased with that and walked jogged the balance of the 5k home. I will not be going out tomorrow .
Mrs is away visiting her sisters for a couple of days so that leaves me with Tony as he is staying with us at the moment. time for a coffee and lunch now.
Glad to hear that the leggies are still working after your weekend exploits Westie. How lovely to get some time with Tony
Larry, hope you are feeling better today.
Ewww, Podds Mind you, I reckon feet are easier to clean up than slippers would be.
I've never seen the water jet men but I did see some kite surfers this morning when I was out with SM. You are right, TF is actually No Friend in my opinion but SM is besotted with her, which is why she has the power to hurt her so much .
Still bright and dry but temps barely into mid teens here.Prolly a good time to go down to Sandbanks cos it will be heaving come school hols!
Lake swim done this morning, nice set up, about 2k done as it was a bit chilly, the guy on reception said it was 16 but if it was anything over 13degs I'll eat my wetsuit
Duathlon tonight, 2.5miles/12 miles/2.5miles .... could be interesting, any bets on time ?!!
Flippin chilly out there today, I could do with summer back
IN other news HMRC have finally decided that there is nothing more to settle on Grannies estate and cheques are being posted out in next 2 days or so, over a year since her passing ...
I'm doing Windsor Oly on Sunday and debating whether or not I'm stupid enough to leave my first OW swim in 3 years (and 1st ever river swim!) until race day!!!
I see that Westie is back to doing 5 k's already, and has some cunning plan for next year! BTW, Westie, how are Tony's eyes now?
The Dragon Lady is not only chugging again, she's flying through the air! Sue, I'm like Sluggie, I'll watch from a safe distance. But what a brilliant thing to do!
Podds, you've had a real tale of woe the last few days, haven't you? Being stung to death by nettles, roused from your bad at an ungodly hour, given...umm...something to step in, and on top of that you're still corralling uncooperative yoofs into doing exams... the Windsor Oly will hardly even appear as a blip on your radar screen! You are my hero
Sluggie, sorry that the 'Friend' (who clearly isn't) is being so unpleasantly manipulative. There is not much you can do to prevent it, but it's nice of you to help SM keep occupied so she is less vulnerable.
Scuse me for running through, but after a pretty non-stop week we are back to France tomorrow. Need to pack away the laptop now since we roll at 0630. See you all from the other side. In the meantime, happy Wednesdays! xxx
I have heard of athletes foot but not pukey foot - hope it soon clears Podds
M.eldy appears to be doing multiple events on an hourly basis and Westie looks like he's in the running to compete.
(((Sluggie and SM))))
Good travels Chuggy
Intended to go for a run this evening but by the time I got back to the hotel, having been delayed even further by a herd of cows on a country lane, I decided it was better to head out and eat. I suppose I could get up extra early and run in the morning but I don't want to be hit by that flying pig that's just entered the scene.
What distance Meldy? Our club ones which I usually marshal are 2 / 10 / 2 and extremely at the speedy end!
Tonight's news is that with my glands up and mouth ulcers I decided to swap a 2 hour round trip and an hour's hard swim for trying to see if I can still get into my wetsuit.........
..........I can but pray dog I never have to bend over in it!!
That was a *very* rubbish sleep ...I was awake just after 2 and I dont think I have had much more since then Feeling very hay fevery as well which probably doesnt help
Drank a bottle of wine last night, this morning I know why I'd stopped drinking wine... . Thankfully I didn't do anything silly like enter a marathon!!
morning house to myself again a bit early for the whiskey bottle..
Tony and I are having a bbq when he gets home from work so more beer chilling in the fridge. Chuggy ,Tony has another specialist appointment next month and has to see about getting special contact lens fitted to improve things. He still can't drive at night and bright sunny days are a problem the same as Tubbs I think.
I did fancy another little plod today but thought it wise to let the old legs etc recover until tomorrow. Have a 5k plan I am trying to keep to with the object to run the total with no walking so far 75% there hope by end of next week will be ready to try the park runs again even if I will be last.

Can I pack your parachute ?
Wow, Sue!!!! Are you the first skydiving Waister?
Try this next time (the water jet man!)
Good Lord Dragon you is hard core!! You wouldn't catch me jumping out a plane....although being attached to a hunk might make me change my mind...
Belated birthday greetings Larry, hope you had a great day
Chuggs, sounds like you had a good day
I have been severely 'Craiged' this afternoon...
Well done westie great going there.
Woohoo Sue skydiving Waister. What a challenge
Not well today so resting and doing lots of nuffin. It will pass
Nice run Podds nice legs lol!

Happy belateds Larry and ((((()))))) hope it soon passes.
Woooohooooooo Sue. Not sure I could throw myself out of a plane - although part of me knows it would be brilliant.
Well trained, runned, biked or hiked M.eldy, Podds, Spence, Yums, Westie & Chuggy and anyone else I've missed.
I appear to be in Devon. I'm gessing that means the weekend is over then. Happy sparkly new week. Hope it brings sunshine and happiness for you

Oh are you ? I am working Sunday else I would have popped down and shouted at you
You'll be fine, what could poss go wrong ...
Eggzackerly...............
Just racing through to pick up the headlines.
I see that Westie is back to doing 5 k's already, and has some cunning plan for next year! BTW, Westie, how are Tony's eyes now?

Long old day down in Devon.
I have heard of athletes foot but not pukey foot - hope it soon clears Podds

Happy Tuesday one and all
An advert has just appeared on my FB sidebar, showing a pair of slippers with the tagline "Don't slip into stink" ... made me think of Podds!
It's an advert for Febreze - how dull!
How apt
I am just home, I am very cold, its June FFS !|!
Duathlons are a strange event, short sharp events and me dont mix ... clearly
LOL Pippi

2.5/12/2.5 ...
and I should be in bed now but thats the problem with 'racing' at bed time - it as 9.30pm when I finished
Yep - I'm tireder in some ways not having swum than I would be had I gone...........less exercise but less adrenaline!
On that note off to bed - sweet dreams all
That was a *very* rubbish sleep ...I was awake just after 2 and I dont think I have had much more since then
