Did anyone else see the runner going up the hill by the University (miles 9-10) who would sprint for 50 yards and then slow right down until he got overtakenby the steady paced runners and would then sprint again. He repeated it about 4 times wheezing more loudly each time. Not the best approach to distance running that I have seen.
I finished my first race ever in the half-marathon. 2hrs 5mins - a little disapointed not to break 2hrs but still happy to get round. Thinking of doing the cardiff half in a few weeks time to break the 2hrs?
Thought it was a very well marshalled race, but after the full / half split it was too quiet and became very difficult. Hadn't noticed the wind until after that point.
How does Cardiff the Cardiff race compare to Nottingham? Just missed out on my target time by a few minutes yesterday. Would like a different course to try next time.
The pdf files with the results on them were available for download in an incomplete state. I don't know why they did this without mentioning that the results were incomplete, but if you download them again now, you will find that they are fully updated and contain what I presume to be the full results. In any event, the half results go right down to nearly five hours for the person who finished in 5968th position for the half! So I should imagine those are the complete results, unless some people are still plodding their weary way in a day later.
Well done everyone did half in 2hrs 48 not as good as some of your time but I'mvery pleased as not trained for last few week next year near to 2hours I hope
Join the club Stuart, i've located my finish time and chip time, i know its me cos of the people who finished around me, although i crossed the line with the nearest person a good 10 seconds plus behind me. They appear to have messed up my race no, and my name as neither my name or race number appear anywhere on the lists ! I have emailed the organisers, will check emails when i get home 2nite
Did anybody see the chap fall flat on his face at the station. He and many others cut through the forecourt but missed the steeps! Very loud cheer from the near by crowd (NICE). Walked back this way to tram and there was a fair bit of blood on floor, Hope he wasnt to badly hurt but just goes to show you should stop on the true course.
Hi all well done to all that finished and comiserations to those that didn't.
Finishes my first marathon on 5.06.05 slightly slower than I hoped for, but just pleased I finished.
At the half way stage it was really tempting to finish. Nearly pulled out at 18-19 miles on the uneven track.
Thought the organisation was good, even though they turned off the comuter and couldn't read out my name just as I came in the home straight. Also disappointed that my medal doesn't say marathon on it, a shame as it was my first.
Next year I think I'll do the half as I really enjoyed that bit of the course, but I will do another marathon elsewhere.
a bloke too a photo of me at the end. I was kissing Mrs B so who knows what that was for. Probably to put on his mantelpiece to keep his kids away from the fire !!
Darryl Bettany well done mate for finishing, did the wind kill you second time going up the watercourse, I think the wind was getting steadily worse after 3 hrs so you probably caught it at the worse time. If you finished that you will def do better next time round as that was a seriously difficult run after 19mile point.
ed m I had letters from them after the Robin Hood last year asking for money or return of photos. I didn't ask for the photo so as far as I am concerned they are unsolicited goods!

oh no how terrible
Hi, finished my first ever Marathon in 3:52.
I was well pleased with the time as I have been only training once a week and my biggest training run had been 8.5 miles.
I had a touch of cramp at 22 miles otherwise I sure I could have finished in 3:30. Must remember to have more salt on my chips next time!
Darren
N i c k o , yes they still do lace panels, i opted for one myself.
lol : Ed, the camera never lies mate
its small wonder you haven't been sued by ActionPhoto for causing unrepairable damage to their lenses by now
* It's ok folks, me and Ed like good natured banter from time to time
