Runners knee cross training options

Hi,

Little under two miles into a run last weekend I developed sharp stabbing pain on the outside of my knee - which has subsequently been diagnosed as runners knee.

I've not run since but have biked and been swimming, however there's been zero improvement - even walking I'm getting the odd nasty twinge. Now obviously I know recovery is going to take a while but I'm just unsure whether the biking and swimming might slow things down? Worth noting with swimming i can only do breast stroke and not very well which I guess isn't ideal for an iffy knee.

Are you sure its Runners Knee?  Classic Runners Knee is anterior pain, pain in the front of the knee.  Patients who suffer Runners Knee have weak hips.  Concentrate on strengthening your hip abductors and posterior chain.
