If you beg the hotel they usually give in ans let you stay one night.
Give them the race story and I found it worked.
I'm in the Quality Hotel, but I think they are full.
You're a bit late for the reasonably priced hotels. Have a look on lastminute.com and you should be able to find something for about 120 quid if you're lucky... Apart from that, you might want to try B&Bs.
If you think now is amusing, wait until Saturday evening when we've had a few drinks and are terrorising the monkey... Do you want to join us Sat night - there's plenty of space in the restaurant.

In fact we have about 7 spare places now as I booked it for 18 people but now looks like about 11, possibly 10 if Spans can't make it.
We have booked Cafe Pasta for 8pm Saturday night.
he's totally bricking it about the race as he's pretty sure I'm going to beat him (I'm pretty sure too!)
I said I knew others were staying there and that why could they stay one night and I couldn't.
