The trouble with this thread is that we may be distancing ourselves from potential newcomers to the group. I suppose it's a balance between welcoming newcomers, and the comfort of familiarity.
Hence ends Ongey's essay of the morning! I am off to pickup my race number this afternoon. Just thought I'd say.
For listening Doylies, yes I can offer sub-40 10K advice! In fact I'm an expert at dishing out laymans advice.
May I put a potentially damning suggestion in? As there are so many no-shows for next Thursday, perhaps we should postpone it to the following week?
Hi Ongey! I don't actually think so. People can make up their own minds, just by reading the thread they can see that "newcomers" join in and become regulars. It's not a "club".
The following week? ) Back from Scotland on the 25th, to Germany on the 27th all week. Good time to avoid me
Fruity- I think people tend to tell each other about it, but others are actually bored enough that they go through it before they make up their minds, I suppose. (BTW- I've only been twice, and you've only missed twice, so I'm not actually the one to analyze in detail here!!).
So Dodge, looks like it's in Islington on the 21st April unless postponed to the following week. I should be able to manage both, as long as it doesn't clash with London social election special!!!
On a slightly different tack but with loose connections to earlier posting by Ongey. Is there not somewhere a little less accessible for the Marathon expo like Outer Mongolia or South Peru.............where the hell do Custom House/Shadwell etc get off!!!
Round trip took longer than running the race What's 'appened to Earls Court et al, you, somewhere in this country!!
Doylie- I know. I went to Excel with Scotty last year, it is a bit of a trek. And it's not like it takes up tons and masses of space, either...could still be at EC or Olympia. Have fun in Islington (er...never been there before...).
Since this is a dining thread: Jon- just as you are about to hit the boiling water, as if by magic, you turn back into human form- and I throw you out. OK, back to work, deadline tomorrow. Y'all have a good day, ya hear?
come and say hello to me if you see me at excel on saturday (and maybe friday) - I'll be in the middle of a 16-odd hour working day so will need all the friendly 'hellos' I can get!! rather run the damn thing... don't know where I'm working yet, somewhere on a supplier's stand or on the Sweatshop stand (how vague is that!?)
Date: 21st April Food type: Moroccan Restaurant: Maghreb, 189 Upper Street Islington Pre-eat drinking/meeting location: Ongey is investigating (no pressure)
Just got back from Excel. Picked up my running number. Ate bad pasta. Listened to speakers telling me to drink water along the route. Got a sports massage.
As Miss P lives in Islington, then she may have some decent starting points. I don't know many pubs in the area (although from experience, some of the ones on the main drag are a bit 'laddish'). There's a quality boozer called the Jay Cubed just off on a side street. What do you think, Miss P?
Jay Cubed? Never heard off it. Was thinking of maybe The Old Parrs Head, half way down Upper Street? Dead in between Highbury and Islington Stn and Angel Stn.

The first rule of "not a curry night" club is that if you can't find the right venue then you don't deserve to be there.

Lovely kitchen MooMoo.....
Jon- alas, 12 years of the US system. Never mind, you're still my favorite seal- don't like the color of your hair, though- seen a vet lately?
He will be found and dealt with.

We could always put Moroccan on ice till a later date.
