Bulo Berti Boubou (a black shrike-like thing) was the first ever bird that was established as a new species to science by DNA tests on blood samples from a living bird which was released afterwards - all previous 'firsts' or 'type specimens' were killed and ended up in museum collections. This happy story is reflected in the second part of the Bulo Berti Boubou's scientific name - Laniarius liberatus.
