looks like the weather will be ok tomorrow am looking forward to doing this race as i have always found gloucester area a nice place to run - its good to run on some nice country type roads - hope my hang over goes away soon
Gobi - I actually fell apart about mile 16.5 - I had 2 problems. Problem one is that I sweat a lot and need to take loads of water in, usually 2 cups per station. On the last but one I only managed to grab one cup, then the runner next to me dropped hers so I gave half to her. That left me feeling dehydrated. Then my right IT Band or something on the right of my knee started hurting badly and I lost my resolve and plodded home slowly.
Sometimes I lose it mental resolve more than physically.
To be honest slowing down did not help. My leg hurt more because I was moving it less and it took longer to get to the last water station where I drunk 3 cups of water and got going again.
After the finish I downed 1.5l of lucosade without it coming out the other end so I must have been lacking in fluid somewhat.
Hey, enjoyed anyway and thanks for asking. How did it go for you ?
Gobi - nice to have met you if only briefly. As you no doubt guessed by my appearance on side of road did not get very far - wll hardly got anywhere at all, less than one mile ny which time i was already nearly last and still slowing so gave up. Tried to go for run along canal path but did not even make a mile there so decided time to get car and come and watch. I was wondering why you were so far back first time i saw you but it's alll clearer from your post and you did look very strong when you went past me around the 15 mile mark - you were making it look very easy. Well done to you and all forumrites on your run - i will be back

Hope the car park field isn't too muddy, or my little Smart car might have a few problems...

Is it likley to be windy there tomorrow, and is it usually colder than inland ?
Oh yes, and is it exposed or is it all between nice warm hedgerows ?
cant wait for this one, 1st 20 miler of trg so should be fun (but hard)
have fun and enjoy see you all tomorrow:-)
Welsh Alex - it's not particularly windy or exposed. The only nasty bits are a couple of short 'hills' (but hardly worthy of the name) on the loop.
good luck everyone, and if you're slow, i'll see you at the back (I'll be wearing a Gloucester AC vest)
Thanks - c u there
Again a lovely day, finished in 2:16:58 but forgot to pick my t-shirt up.Thanks to Gloucester ac for another great event.
I forgot my T-Shirt too. Finished in 2:49:59. Very enjoyable well organised.
So many friendly faces as well
Shame I was feeling pants for most of it - queezy and weird - so did a really poor time.
Will definitely have another stab at it next year.
Feeling very sleepy now...
just read your entry on fetcheveryone, what happened to the last 4 miles I must have caught you around 15-16 miles

Just looking at my splits and I was at the start of mile 16 at 2h 2min, did about 7.3 miles in the first hour and just shy of 8 in the second.
ran 1:15 for the first 9 miles
(looked like a jogger)
1:21 for the last 11
34:09 for the last 5 miles
Found it so easy I'm embarrassed.
finished in 2:36 and could have kept running
Me again, mistake in sum on spreadsheet - it was 2:10 for mile 16.

What I am trying to say is that fetch's site is great.
Gobi, this was my first 20 miler or anything over 15 since last Nov. I have had shaky knees the last few weeks and plan was to plod in at 2:58:00
Nice to see you found it easy Gobi. My wobble aside I thought it was easier than I expected.
I have been doing a lot of hills and Terminator type thingy's.

was amazing how many people had run too fast and were dyining in the last few miles
I saw your Wife she ran well
passed her in the last couple of miles
when I was speed testing
Best moment for me was as I ran past some guy and he shouted
DID YOU START LATE or something along those lines
